I've got a Waterside MC250 water softener (the manual timer one I think) and I can hear running water in the pipes. The main body of it is full of water and water is weeping from the controls at the top - the overflow is dripping too. I've by-passed it and the problem has stopped so it must be the water softener.

Are there any filters to unblock or connections to tighten, or has it come to the end of its life? It's 4 years old.

Just had mine repaired, it was doing exactly the same thing!

The problem was a valve inside that was sticking and the engineer reamed it out to make good. They charged around £60 for the repair.

I have now signed up to their maintenance scheme, which includes all salt, repairs and a yearly service, for £9.80/month:)
