I can't reply either....

I couldn't reply to anuthing last night at home but can this morning at work. I will see tonight if it's now working at home and will leave remote control software running on my machine so I can compare home and work at the same time.....

Whenever my Firewall @ home is turned on I can't see the Reply button in threads and often I also get pages that just won't display.

Anybody else using Norton Firewall 2.5 and having these types of probs? (I'm running NT4 SP6a + Security Rollup and IE6)

OK Reply button back too. It wasn't the firewall but the personal protection element of the Norton Internet security seciton..... Now I'll just check to see if it's the ad-blocking software ;)

Well I figured that out and after (quite a bit) of digging down into the config, I found the culprit.

As you can see, I can now reply to threads. Let's see if the refresh to a blank screen problem is still an issue or if that's gone now too.... :rolleyes:

Well that clears that up then! Shall I turn off my ad-protection and suffer several days of my life lost to downloading ads over the next few years or say goodbye to Scoobynet??? Hmmmm.

This is an important subject.

The ONLY thing that pays for the bandwidth, server, human resources, etc of the page that is sent to you, is the banner that appears on it.

If you have ad blocking software on you are effectively "stealing" from scoobynet. This means, that every time you load a page you are costing scoobynet money, and scoobynet cannot earn any money back for it.

Please do not use adblocking software on scoobynet as it puts the whole site in danger of become non-financially viable and closing.

We've discussed this before and I agree with you. The problem is that if you are using Norton Firewall and you have ad blocking turned on (which I and most people do), then it's difficult to stop the add blocking for Scoobynet alone.

For some reason, the add blocking had a (default) string ( "AdId=" ) which some of the image files (the Reply button for one) seemed to be using. The upshot of this was that the reply button was being removed from the screen by the ad blocking software when it's clearly nothing to do with an ad.

Now I don't want to turn off ad blocking completely because when I'm surfing the rest of the world, I don't want to see the adds so I'm working on enabling the ad stuff just for Scoobynet (only it's a pain in the ar$e as it's taking some real digging into the Firewall config).

I may give up and just turn off ad blocking but I'd like to try and get it working as mentioned above.

Si, if you could either post or mail me a list of url's that the adsites that are being used it would be most appreciated?
