Do many people use either Optimax or Super Unleaded in their sports bikes, or indeed any other motorbike?
I wouldn't imagine there would be much performance gains but maybe the cleaning additives are worth it? With bike tanks being so small I guess the price difference is not so noticeable.

You only notice when it come's to your service.
The shims & what not don't need fiddling with so yes it is woth using + a clean smooth engine allways run's better so no loss in power:luxhello:

Kempo,
I always use Optimax. I have an Akrapovic and PCIII on my bike, and just think that it makes sense to use the best fuel available. I have tried NUL, and my bike is certainly a little flatter on it.

I have always used optimax in my Gixer from the day I picked it up from the dealers, don't really notice the cost as it only costs a tenner to fill the tank up.....

Always use super unlead in my RS125, only 2p differnce in price at sainsburys. Have noticed on the odd occasion that they havent had SUL that my bike won't start as easy on cold mornings.

I try and run optimax, not because of the higher octain ( that really only makes a significant difference with turbo engines) but becasue of the cleaning properties of it, which are well documented.
I only do about 4k a year on the bike so cost wise its about another £25 a year so not really and issue.
Well worth it IMO.

The owners manual for my VTR says don't use anything below about 90 ron, given it's that far away I don't see much point in using optimax... having said that I'd push my car till the next shell station if one wasn't available!

I just use normal unleaded in my R6 engined FZ6. Had it on the rollers and even with race can's and K&N filter its running nice a bit rich! Don't use supermarket petrol though, always Shell, Esso etc..............

I've used Optiamx in my 2005 R1 since new and now its covered 11,000 miles....the only time I haven't used Optimax is on the odd occasions when the Shell garage has run out of it so I've been forced to use nul.....
