Has anybody been told that the Insurance for the New Turbo Model Subaru is a lot more that Insurance for the Old Turbo Model.

A neighbour is paying £800 more than he was for his 99 Turbo.

St Pauls, say it is because of the Name WRX.
I don't think they are taking the BHP into account, as both cars are the same . They see WRX and they are automatically saying that it is a Jap Spec Car. When he said no it is an Irish Car, they refused to change the Quote. Anybody seen this before, What would happen if he said it was a 2.0 Turbo Impreza ? apart from a smile with all that extra cash...

I have seen this numerous times and have advised Subaru ireland of the problem. As you said Colin.......once they see the letters WRX.......alarm bells....jap car....lunatic machine.......lunatic driver.....major repair bills........no parts available.........BIG PREMIUM

In Britain the new model (my01 wrx)has officially been declared as grp 19 insurance,compared to grp 17 for the my00 and previous models,scandalous or what. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
I think its the 'high theft desirability' that has caused the premium hike.
