I do not know much about having a Turbo Timer for a Subaru so if anyone is interested in telling me as much as they know e.g.(advantages or disadvantages) I would appreciate it.

Hi Joe,

Basically it will prolong the life of your turbo. When you have been doing some vigorous driving the turbo will hit some very high temperatures. When you stop, the timer will allow the car to idle for a set amount of time, depending on how you were driving, and allow essential oil to circulate around your turbos bearing. If you were to just shut the engine down the oil would burn off and hence the life of the bearing will be severely shortened.

By the way did you get the new scooby yet?

Be carefull with your insurance and a turbo timer, It may invalidate your insurance as some regard it as negating the Cat1 approval on your alarm.

Yes I got the Scooby last Thursday so I am still trying to learn the basic Scooby driving techniques but I am very happy with the car and my progress is OK.(I just have to be careful when overtaking the old 90mph does not be long about coming up)It's a 98 Turbo and I got it in Bursey Peppard.

Have you got any driving or security tips for me the scooby newbie?

Personally,I would put the money into something else,as,unless you are prepared to switch on your tt,leave your car running ,lock it and walk away it is not of much use.The alternative is to sit in the car for a couple of minutes after your drive.I would say that in the past year i have only used the tt about 5 times.Buy yourself a quickshift instead-you'll enjoy it every time you drive the car.Happy motoring.
