I tried one of my slicks on the back of the car tonight . Unfortunately it is rubbing badly on the bottom spring platform leading to a nasty smell and clouds of smoke . Looks like I'll have to change them for narrower ones . They only just clear the arches so different offset rims won't work .
So now we know that 225/50/16 tyres will not fit a legacy without modifying the arches .
