View Full Version : De-tango'ing a Blobeye. Ways and means.....?

Is it at all possible to detango a blobeye's headlamps without splitting them open using heat (the "oven method"!!)...?
I'm thinking maybe using one of those little grabber things or a pair of long needle nose pliers or something. Getting it out in one piece doesn't bother me either.

furrydice79 12 January 2006, 02:39 detango means to take the orange reflector out of the sealed light units so that yer lights are now clear and fitted with silver orange flashing bulbs.
with regards to the resealing, if you do it quick you can be lucky and get it airtight using the same mastic, but when i did it i used a little extra sealant just to be sure.

Method of Inspection: that every direction indicator emits amber light, except vehicles first used before 1 September 1965 where both front indicators may be white and both rear indicators red.
Reason for Failure: does not show light of the appropriate colour
Sorry to be a killjoy - not as easy to swap it back before the MOT either ! :brickwall

But with Detangoing you just use an amber bulb instead of a white bulb and amber casing. Nothing wrong with it just as long as you still indicate with a flashing amber light.
AllanP 12 January 2006, 13:55 As above, the OE bulbs are Orange, you can either re-use these or for max effect fit Silvervision bulbs. Silvertec bulbs are rubbish BTW.
No problem with MOT either way.

Chelspeed 12 January 2006, 20:59 PIAA mirror orange are also good. Silver when off and orange when on but much brighter than Sivertec's.

IYO the silvertec are pants! ive had them fitted for a year now so IMO they are up to the job.:)

Have you compared the light output to your original bulbs ? try putting one back in the rears and checking them with the Hazards on.
Only the Silvervision or the Led's, are adequate and safe in my opinion.
