Hi All,

I replaced my battery a couple of months ago (MY03) as it seemed to be losing charge, although I suspect the problem was also related to the fact that, as I now work closer to home, the battery is not getting charged up enough to make up for all the juice the tracker and alarm and all the other widgets that are draining power from it.
I had the car serviced last month and no probs were reported with the alternator etc

I thought I may be able to get some sort of battery gauge installed so I can keep an eye on how much juice the battery is getting/storing, but all the gauges I looked at seem to be the piston-head variety (boost, oil pressure etc) and there doesn't seem to be anything for the battery.

Pardon my ignorance, but does anyone know if there is such a thing and point me to it?

I must admit to a wry smile at this bit: your average car mechanic regards the alternator and associated wiring as a bit of a magic box, and the only bit he's even remotely likely to check is the tension of the belt.

So after a service, you won't get any info on the alternator, good, or bad, unless the thing is actually dead, when said mechanic will have noticed the red warning light::rolleyes:

If you suspect it, take your car to a PROPER car electrics place, (Yellow Pages), and ask THEM to test it, and the battery.

To answer the second part of the question, a battery gauge is available, is called a voltmeter, is dead esy to fit, and next to useless fitted to the car. Sorry:D

I have a Greddy Turbo timer, which reads out the voltage for me. You can also set a warning sound when the voltage drops below a certain point.
