View Full Version : Oilman needs your help please
oilman 09 January 2006, 15:44 Our "new" website has been in development for the last three and a half months.
Our main focus areas have been product range, an easy to use online shop, easy site navigation and discounted Members Area for the Clubs and Forums that we are associated with.
The site is now available to view at http://www.opieoils.co.uk (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/)
We need as much feedback as possible from Members here to enable us to pass any important comments back to our web designers.
We would be most grateful if you would take a look at your convienience and let us know what you think as all feedback is valuable to us and our design team.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers
Simon and Guy

iainmac 09 January 2006, 23:00 Bit of a pain having to leave phone number when requesting an oil recomendation?
oilman 09 January 2006, 23:24 Indeed, good point we'll make it an option.
Believe it or not, some people still want to talk to you personally.

MarvSTi5 10 January 2006, 09:37 I'm a computer luddite but once I'd cracked where to put my password (wasn't initially clear to me!!), I found it easy to navigate round the site and find what I was looking for.
Nice one - will be in touch shortly :thumb:

Inoticed I had to manually refresh my finish and pay page after adding my product previously, before I used my member code. Just ad to press F5 to refresh before it showed the correct price. This also goes for the checkout.
Great improvement to your site though!

DEC14N 12 January 2006, 17:35 great site. only problem I had was trying to work out what car I had from the spark plug application list!!!

CEL 13 January 2006, 22:41 I'm no English expert, but wouldn't recommend an oil for me" sound better than "recommend me and oil" ?
Not having a dig at your site, in general looks excellent :D

oilman 14 January 2006, 23:16 Thanks for all the feedback, there are some very knowledgeable people about.
We have made some changes as a consequence of the comments that we recieved over a large number of forums.
There are still parts of the site that are undergoing changes and new pages to be added especially in the "Members Section".
There are a couple of features that we would like to draw your attention to.
1. Members Discount Section (to which you have access).
All you need to do is go to this page http://www.opieoils.co.uk/Members.aspx and then request an access code. Users of this forum are entitled to the discounted prices.
2. Recommend me an oil.
Just use this feature here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/performance_lubricants/ to obtain a recommendation for your car. Please bear in mind, the more information we have the better.
3. Register with us.
Why not register so that you can buy anytime and so that we remember your details here https://www.opieoils.co.uk/Login.aspx you can also request to be informed of any special offers by email.
Thanks again.
Cheers

NXG 24 January 2006, 00:28 Couldn't find anything for a MY03 WRX UK (with or without mods). Not all of us know what a GCxxxx is in relation to our car and the navigation system doesn't help. Clicked on all the Imprezza offerings... still nothing. Was looking for oil for a modified engine and uprated plugs. The discount to enthusiast clubs may be more useful if the site actually catered for them with shorter click throughs...
Sorry to be so negative but it was an awful user experience and the site design offers nothing of value. Also, putting info in pdf files when it isn't at all necessary to do so just adds load to your servers and delays/distracts your viewer. As an example, those in the oil section would be better off as JS pop-ups that didn't take you off the main page.
Go back to the designers and get them to check the target audience brief! I'll stick to sending an email for now.

pmarch 26 January 2006, 21:57 I found the site a great improvement and opening the pdf files was no problem - looks good. But would have to say that the prices (even with member discount) seem to have gone up a lot - just over a year ago, I bought 5L of Silkolene ProS 5/40 for about £27 over your counter in person. I assume your prices must include carriage/postage - it's the one detail I'm not sure about as I couldn't see a section explaining about posting times or carriage prices.

Indeed, all prices include carriage. Oil prices have risen by approx 15% in the last 9 months.
