The Chief 09 January 2006, 02:15 As discussed at a recent meeting.
We are going to organize some charity events this year, so we would like some idea's please, Supertouring thought of a Scooby car boot sale amongst other things - maybe runs out for charity - that sort of thing
Any ideas greatly appreciated?
Thanks guys:thumb:

OMG  - Never thought of this before !!!!:):):):):):):):):):)
Carl :D
pimmo2000 10 January 2006, 08:19 How about a Rolling road competition!
Each pay the cost of the Rolling road and £10 extra, the car with the best results wins the money and gets to pick the charity!
Gives everyone something to aim for, a bit of fun and for a good cause?
cw42 10 January 2006, 08:47 Good idea with the rr. But what charity, I'm sure we've all got our own ideas on what we'd like to support. Mine would be the Childrens Ward at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Any other suggestions?
chris.

Oh just hand it to me now after my last effort !!!

good idea but I cant see poeple with standard engines turning up as they are on to a loser straight away.
May be you predict the horse power before hand and the closest one to there power figure wins?
Just a thought
Andy
wah 10 January 2006, 14:26 Now that sounds like a better idea Andy !!!
supertouring 10 January 2006, 17:40 Didn't we do this for CW's car at one point. I am sure I won? I am still waiting for my prize!
Anyway, everyone knows their own power figure so maybe how about total BHP on the day. That would be harder to guess. A second competion for torque also to add to the fun.
Also, guess the excuse of TonyBurns when he does not make the figures he is expecting;) (Only joking)
Pimmo2000, and as you thought of the idea I think it is only right for you to go first on the rollers.
wah 10 January 2006, 18:13 LOL at the remark regards Tony !!!!!
Beefy 10 January 2006, 19:45 Come on CW, stump up Supers prize lad! (surely youve got some cast off bits and pieces around after all your modding!) :)

Dont be fooled you will get big differences on power on different days!!
Like the torque as well
Just a thought though we mentioned we would like to raise a large sum of money and get more than just the SMACS involved, the rolling road will only raise £120/180 pounds
Andy
Mad Scientist 10 January 2006, 20:53 I'll donate an extra £10 if CW42 can make 5bhp on his push bike!

cheeky bugger beefy :) I don't do cast offs, only careful considered mods, and dump the rest. Although I do have a classic bonnet scoop that would look wicked on your ctr :)

5! more like 15 at least, you should have seen me flying on sunday :) I did 12 miles on it

lol thanks for the offer, but i will have to refuse. :cuckoo:
:D
supertouring 11 January 2006, 08:18 only 120/180 ?
We have to start somewhere, and I was hoping this would not be the only charity event this year.
Need more ideas. I think the RR will have to be a definate.

Not a problem, and I think guess the horse power sounds even better!!!
declare your mods and then everyone write down a number, each number can only be used once!
Mine will be very close to standard and I'm up for it!:luxhello:
cw42 11 January 2006, 11:15 Looks like we may have a format there then :) I'll have a chat with Prosport today, and see what dates they have available for a rolling road. I know the LADS are booked in twice over the coming months, and also the WR1 owners too (maybe one for you there steelx! :)).
One thing I would mention with running a rr day though: When we did one back in january last year, we had an open format, where there was a list of people to run, in order. On the day, people turned up late, didn't turn up at all, and in one case, turned up when pete had actually locked the place up! This time, I suggest everyone is there at the beginning. I'd rather not see people turning up 5 minutes before they're due to go on the rollers, then driving off straight afterwards :(
chris.
The Chief 11 January 2006, 11:20 Chris is being polite there!!! what he means is get your ar*e's out of bed
no excuses:)
BTW i am definitely up for that one, like to see how underpowered my car actually is

Thanks chief, your turning into the SMACS rotteiler :notworthy Down boy
cw42 11 January 2006, 17:30 Ok, been to see pete, and very helpful as usual :)
Saturday 18th february, or Saturday 25th February are the dates to go for. Which would everyone prefer?
Pete suggested opening the day up for non smacs, which I would have done anyway, but also mentioned posting the dates on the mlr, and maybe getting some of the dark side over too. What do you think?
chris.

What sort of cost would this be Chris and what would it involve?? - sorry mate never been to a RR before.
MLR - oh great and have them laugh at my paltry 215bhp :(
supertouring 11 January 2006, 18:08 I cannot do the 25th.
Chief, it is not what you have, it is what you do with it....:norty:
Charity contribution should be optional then I think (manditory for SMACS) but include the total for all runs on the day (we need independant toting up). Any freebie runs donated by Peter should see the whole value of the run being put into the charity pot.
Beefy 11 January 2006, 19:10 Unfortunately I cant do the 18th as Im on a stag do. I'm also unsure about the 25th at the moment but seeing as super cant make this one I guess its likely to be the 18th anyway.
cw42 11 January 2006, 19:24 What sort of cost would this be Chris and what would it involve?? - sorry mate never been to a RR before
Cost would be £35 per car, + £5 to the charity pot. Normal days events are:
1/ turn up
2/ line up
3/ get strapped down
4/ run
5/ realise you could get better
6/ run again
7/ realise your first run was as good as it gets :)
8/ get unstrapped
9/ hang around praying someone does a worse run than you :)
10/ eat (insert this bit anytime of the day)
11/ guess the overall bhp figure for all cars attended.
Hope that helps chief :)
Only problem I've got with the day is that I'm on earlies on the 18th, and I'll have done a night shift before the 25th :( So, I'll either be in work, or in bed :( I'll try to sort something out.
And yes beefy, you'd be right in thinking we'd choose the 18th if super cant do the 25th, as there is no way you have that many mates getting married to use that lame excuse again
So, is 18th ok for everyone? Looks like I need to sort out the morning off :(
Beefy 11 January 2006, 19:32 Hehe Chris, Im actually best man this time around so having to organise the bloody thing!! Wedding isnt until april though, so still got some time to write my speech, lose the rings, etc :p
