Just talking about this very topic at work today. Was just organising the on-calls rotas such that I'm not on for that weekend. Fantastic last year, wee bit warm. Our group needs to get organised and get the tickets booked soon ! mr incredible 04 January 2006, 22:30 Three days into 2006 and where talking about Le mans(can't wait) i'am going with two others, booked back in July"God i hope its cooler than last year!!!:thumb: millband 05 January 2006, 01:21 Yay! Me too! :D Going for the first time this year. Me and a mate in my WRX and a mate from work and his wife in their Elise. The plan (http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/lemans/) is to go via Poole on the way out and Caen on the way back, travelling out on the Wednesday night so we can see practice, drivers parade etc before the race. Camping in Karting Nord - don't seem to hear much about this on other websites, so I hope it's OK.... Where/when are you guys crossing, I'll keep an eye out while letching at all the nice cars Steve Blackscooby 05 January 2006, 16:51 Just talking about the trip again with a colleage 2 mins ago. We're talking about crossing on Thursday morning (Tunnel) hopefully getting down there around 6pm or so, have a few beers and make it to watch practice / qualifying, although this all depends on the nightmare traffic around Rouen (or last year it was a complete mare) Hopefully we'll be in Dunlop grandstand again, and this year travelling down in a Tiv Chimera 500 and not my Saab Aero (aka "The large barge") 4x4chris 05 January 2006, 19:05 DEFINITELY! broke my cherry last year, was fecking amazing.... SOOO hot though! Went Portsmouth - Caen last year, probably do the same again. Not doing sodding night crossing though, sleeping on the floor under a seat sucks! Nice drive once you get into France though. Racing and crazing overtaking aplenty! Watch out for the plod though, saw em hiding in trees with a speed gun at one point! www.beermountain.com is a good source of info for the various campsites, how to get there etc. My advice - take a GPS! we stayed in BeauseJour last year... bit further out than most campsites but i really liked it... Better than some of the concrete / dust bowls there are around... Might take a push-bike with me this year though! :) There arent a massive number of scoobys about down there actually. my WRX was getting more looks than the VERY common Porsches and Ferraris! :D :D I CANT WAIT! and i hope its just a couple of degrees cooler this time round! chris bootsy 05 January 2006, 21:13 this year will be my 4th time .first time i went me and a mate in his elise( tent ,duty free beer and 2 big water guns = one ramed full elise) totally mad weekend. i've only stayed on hoax annexe ( near the mad round about) and the same this year.i'm leaving wednesday afternoon for 10pm dover crossing and then the mad drive down there ( always reminds me of a gumball type drive down) this time there should be 2 car loads of us going but it's early days yet. i think a scoobynet meet up and a few beers is in order :thumb: mr incredible 06 January 2006, 00:58 Like the idea of a Scoobynet meet any body else fancy that?:thumb: Woody1 06 January 2006, 19:45 Meeee Oh forgot I am goin in your car. Nice one, you'll love it! Good day to go over i reckon too. Went over on the Thursday last time. Makes a bit harder to get a camping space that way.. So im going to go on Weds this time too... What campsite ? Woody1 07 January 2006, 18:57 We are staying on a campsite further away from the circuit this year. Stayed on Maison blanche last year and wasn't that impressed. Got there on the Friday and some had more space for their swimming pools than we had for three tents. Then the facilities were naff. cueing up for over an hour to have a dump and showers that literally trickled cold water in 1,000,000 degrees outside temperature stretched the sense of humour. Further more, nearly got into a fight with one of the french shower attendants who tried pushing in front of me in the one shower section that had more than a trickle. Again after cueing there for an hour, there was no way he was going to jump the cue. It was great to be supported by all the other chaps in the cue (not !!) booked this year through: http://www.clubmotorsport.org.uk/24carpackage.html Looking forward to it. My fourth year also. penfold118 08 January 2006, 19:23 Nice one, you'll love it! Good day to go over i reckon too. Went over on the Thursday last time. Its a really great spot to see the cars at night. If you go back down the road and under the bridge you can follow the track along a bit then cross this big field, and get right up to the track.... saw some people from Porsche Curves on the other side and thought 'how did they get there'. It was a right laugh, SAS style! :) I was quite drunk though, and we got caught by the marshalls, they didnt really care that much tho... cant wait. :thumb: mr incredible 09 January 2006, 00:45 Meeee Oh forgot I am goin in your car. Any ideas on how to look around inside either of these places? Might liven up the drive home!
