Now's not really the best time of year to learn - It helps if you can get a bit of heat in the front tyre first :D

If your brakes are good, you should be able to use just your index finger on the lever and 'feel' the back wheel off the ground - To begin with you need to apply enough pressure to the front brake to compress the forks and load up the front, then just a little extra tweek should be enough to bring the back wheel up. Then you just need to master feathering the brake to keep the bike at the angle you want it at :) - The more you can balance it up, the less you need to brake and therefore the longer you'll be able to keep it rolling.

You are probably locking the wheel up by grabbing a bit at the lever.

It's a bit of an unnerving feeling to begin with, but as you master it you will find yourself increasing the starting speed of the stoppie.

I completely sh@gged the rear shock and swinging arm linkage on my ZX6R by doing 2-up stoppies, with Mrs. FB sat on the back :norty:

Take it easy to begin with - You'll feel like a bit of a pr@t if you end up face first onto the tarmac with a bike on your back :D
