TRIGGER 22 May 2001, 13:41 Have Brands Hatch Leisure relaxed their rules ? I thought car clubs who organised track days were only allowed to have that type of cars ? Or are the Porsche Club big enough to get round this ?
Sorry John
Should have read sdunnarch@aol.com
Kevin.
Dave Mackey 23 May 2001, 11:20 Guys,
I have spoken with one of the organisers and they have told me it is only the clubman circuit not the full monty. I am ringing Cadwell direct to make 100% sure.
Dave
johnfelstead 23 May 2001, 12:47 Didn't stop LTR letting me run my westie there the other week.
There seems to be an awefull lot of bollox going on right now re trackdays and who can go where/when.
That email address is invalid. Do you have the correct one?
Dave
The intention is to run the full circuit, they needed about another 20 cars to make the numbers add up.
The clubman circuit, as I understand it is there as a fall back in the unlikely event of not getting enough support.
Interested if you know otherwise though as the circuit will be spoilt without the 'mountain'.
Kevin.
johnfelstead 23 May 2001, 23:51 thanks, i have never driven the short track there, but in my car it will make it too easy.
One of the real challenges of cadwell is trying to take the left hander after the pit straight flat in top, wont be any prob at all if coming from half way down the straight.
As for missing the mountain section, that really is what cadwell is all about for me.
I will mail my interest but i wont be doing the short track, its not challenging enough.
Dave Mackey 24 May 2001, 10:32 Updated Story
Cadwell has been hired on the 9th by a local company boss as a treat for his employees. He plans to split the cars into groups. One of these groups will be for his employees who buy anything that has an MOT. Last year the day was stopped when one of these guys trashed his car and took out the armco. So the standard of driving is not the best and should not be treated as a normal track day.
He has clearly told me that it the short circuit due to the type of people who will be going not having the skill or the cars to tackle the mountain it really is a day for his guys to drive round a track and that is all.
Sorry for the gloom but if you were coming from the otherside of the pennines you may be a little p$$$d to find only the club track in use.
Dave
Dave
Certainly dosn't match what I have been told.
Lots of confusing info!

PaulFisher 24 May 2001, 21:45 :-(
sounds like amateur day to me
I think i'll be ringing the chap again to find out the exact goings on...
John F, you take the corner at the end of the pit straight flat out in top? (Not letting off?) I've only just managed to not brake, then drop it down 1 gear - then back on -flat out. I'll have to get a ride in you're yellow peril!!
My personnal favorite is the gooseneck, that high 'g' banked corner makes me grin every time.
Paul.
johnfelstead 25 May 2001, 23:20 Not quite managed it yet, but i am trying. Right now i just tickle the brakes to load the front tyres on turn in then take it flat from there. There is a huge amount of grip but you have to be absolutely spot on at the apex otherwise your in trouble.
The big problem for me is most times i catch cars on the pit straight and am off line as i enter the corner, sometimes i get a clean run and its quite a challenge to try get that corner flat.
I am sure its possible but not quite managed it without a confidence dab on the brakes yet. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif
the short circuit will be just flat from the exit of the tight hairpin all the way up that corner, no challenge at all.
I am being told a decision wont be made until the day when people arive, sorry, thats not an acceptable way to run a track day.
IWatkins 26 May 2001, 01:05 John,
You are a big jessie. I used to take that corner flat in my old Alfa 33......
....there again, it was so slow, I was only doing about 60mph by the time I entered it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif
(Have a good one in the states)
Cheers
Ian
