Hi,
I'm considering doing my first track day in May at the Bedford Autodrome.
How hard is it on brakes and tyres? I've only got standard disks and S02's at the moment. Considering buying EBC Red's and greens to get me home on.
Suggestions, Ideas?
Thanks

2 or 3 big stops per lap and quite a lot of time on the brakes, so it's pretty hard on brakes. Reds should be OK
Surface is not as high friction as other tracks IMHO and tyre wear was pretty low (depending on how much time you spend sideways http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif).

The club's 'Track Support Unit' will be in attendance with tyres and pads should you need them. If it's your first track day it's unlikely you'll wear either out to be honest (unless you drive like me! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ). Red Stuff or similar to go on track with is a good idea.

Neil,
IMHO if you have half worn sets of pads(standard UK type) you will be best to get a set of reds or yellows NOW, I creamed my F & R set on 11/2 tracks at Donny http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif, Four credit cards for brake pads http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif. Run them in prior to track day then put you standard back in for general road use. Caution reds etc they work brilliant at high temps/high speed on track but not so good cold at 20mph when in traffic and gran stops qickly in front of you
When you get to the track put your track pads in and away you go. Finish the track and put road pads back in. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Ps enjoy it ,I did 7mpg don't let tank get over 1/3 empty before you start a run or you get cutting out on cornering. Put tyres to 44 psi cold and check them again first stop when hot try 10 psi over standard. This is my humble opinion from a recently broken in track virgin. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif .It's good to have spares as remember you NEED TO DRIVE SCOOB HOME Christ don't I go on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

To save embarrasment/Muppet attention (oops, too late) you may want to edit that to 7mpg http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
