View Full Version : CROFT CANCELLED!
Stef 28 February 2001, 16:24 Sorry Peeps.
Due the uncertainty of the weather conditions in the area, the SIDC track day at Croft has had to be cancelled. Whilst the current snow has all melted, they are expecting more and combined with freezing temperatures over the next couple of nights it would be unlikely the circuit would open in the morning, if at all.
We are trying to arrange another date, but if anyone would like a refund now, please mail me. I will know about a new date by the end of the week if you want to hold on for that. Apologies for any invonenince.
Regards.
Stef.
gregh 28 February 2001, 16:36 Doh! Cheers for the prompt notice.
It was melting here in Leeds, then another blizzard just blew in!

Milky 28 February 2001, 17:06 Cheers Stef, I'll cancel my day off on Friday then !!! bugger....
I'd rather do my first track day on a non snowy/icy track anyway... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Darren.
robbo_64 28 February 2001, 17:28 was still holding out some hope, snow is all gone now, but you are right, conditions could be unpredictable to say the least.
Stick me down for the rearranged date!

IWatkins 28 February 2001, 18:25 Maybe the SIDC could stump up for a 'proper' weather forecast from the Met Office.
P.S. What you see on the telly isn't a proper weather forecast.
Cheers
Ian
Milky 28 February 2001, 18:33 Stick me down the re-arranged date, I'll give you a 100% when I know the date.
Cheers...
Darren.
John H 28 February 2001, 19:22 Stef,
I don't understand why Croft was cancelled . I was at the circuit at 5.00 p.m. tonight to specifically check on conditions ( I hadn't heard about the cancellation at that point )and all the approach roads were totally clear of snow. The surrounding fields are about 70% clear too.The snow's just not bad here.
I don't want to cause trouble but I'm genuinely puzzled.
Regards,
John
John H 28 February 2001, 19:25 Doh !
Just re-read Stef's origional note.Is the forecast really that bad ?
John
HUNTY 28 February 2001, 20:49 Put me down for another go please!
JC 28 February 2001, 21:25 Ok, put me down for the next one.
Thanks for the prompt notice.

gregh 01 March 2001, 21:27 John H,
Trouble is tracks don't grit at all, so a forecast of -8 tonight would have probably meant sitting around waiting for the whole track to thaw, and end up wasting half the day.
Also I imagine if there was any snow at all on the track, that would mean no chance of going out!
Greg
John H 01 March 2001, 21:36 Shame we couldn't persuade a passing North Yorks' road gritter to take the racing line around the circuit,£50 , no questions asked ! Not that I condone such behavior. John
Type R 02 March 2001, 05:58 Just as well canceled, i am just about to go to bed. So getting up at 5.30ish to travel up would have been insane.
Good night or is it good morning
Paul E 02 March 2001, 11:08 Good call Stef. Teesside is very cold and white this morning..... even the gritters don't seem to be having much effect. Can't imagine Croft is much better today. Put me down for the next one
