View Full Version : 17th march Anglesey or Knockhill
Andy W 21 January 2001, 22:26 I intend to do my first track day in my own car this year, I was to go to Oulton with the MLR in october but pesky ferry was cancelled and missed it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
There are two track days on the 17th march (this day suits) one with the MLR at Anglesey the other with the SIDC at Knockhill, loyalties aside, which would be the track most suited as my first trackday experience in a virtually std scoob, all opinions welcome!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Type R 22 January 2001, 08:29 Anglesay is a crackin track, just a thorn in the ass to get to. Nice and twisty, quite short though, i will definetly be going back this year once or twice. I believe Evo and Autocar magazines test a lot of their cars there. Anglesay is similar to Knockhill, there is a lovely hill to climb with a kink in it. Its a very rewarding circuit to drive.
Knockhill i havent done before, its just a little bit to far away, i have heard its good though.
HUNTY 22 January 2001, 09:45 Andy,
I haven't done Angelsey before but I am booked on for the 17th.
A couple of mates are going as they say it's one of the top tracks, even though it is only 1.1 miles.
There should be about 15 of us going from the north west and we are staying over in Anglesey on the Sat night for a good piss up.
You are welcome to join us if you want.
I haven't done Kbockhill but it is on my wish list.
Kevin.
GaryC 22 January 2001, 10:08 Knockhill is a great first track, and Johns organisation make it a cracking day. Combine it with a weekend in Edinburgh to justify (to the other half) the expense/time etc http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
GaryC 22 January 2001, 10:12 Kevin - might come down with a couple of others on the 17th, if there's space!!
JohnS 22 January 2001, 11:16 Yes, a double booking http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Who says that we don't give you a choice.
As we have Knockhill for the whole afternoon, then we'll run a beginners session again, where only beginners (and partners who otherwise never get the chance to drive on the track) are allowed on, so that they don't feel intimidated by more experienced drivers.
Neil Vickers 22 January 2001, 14:39 Can't speak for Knockhill as I haven't been there. Anglesey is fun but short. Radar is a great laugh (saw an Elise spinning in my rearview mirror as he tried to catch, he he). The hairpin is a pain the arse as I either had to take it slow or big understeer.
Heavy on brakes and front left type.
Type R 22 January 2001, 19:33 Pants, i have lost Darins tele no and email address, anybody oblige, as my car is in need of a good hammering at Anglesay.
Matt
