Smile My mates just bought a new car!

Primera GT SE (2.0 16v 150bhp)

Its the limited edition (300) flip paint that changes from green-orange-brown and purple, also has full leather.

The car was orignally on eBay but he lost, he was offered a second chance and we went from York to Southport today to look at it, with a view to buying it. 250mile round trip!

The cars a 1998 S reg and is coming up to 96k.

Its got the usual scratches etc and 1 chip on the bonnet, its not in perfect condition but for a car coming up to 8 years old its not that bad! Unfortunatly though someone has fitted a towbar and cut the bumper to accomodate it, so that will need sorting.

It also had a GB sticker on the bumper, when my mate took it off he noticed a big scratch! But the bumper will need fibre glassing over and respraying anyway.

The cars mechanically sound otherwise and he got for 1550.

Not his but this is the colour:

Cant complain for 1500quid to be honest.... I wouldnt expect him to have any problems with it at all, a friend had a Primera eGT as a runaround and it was utterly reliable. Dont even think that he serviced it in the 18 months of abuse he subjected it to.

Cheers,
Grant

I had one of these, exactly the same for acouple of years, did 30,000 miles no problem at all.Cam chain instead of cam belt, 6cd interchanger in boot, grey leather interior with green piping it has also got onboard computer and will do 35mpg.They have a great chasis and are seriously underated car, sold mine to get a scoob. They also did 300 micras with a orange flip paint. one thing to watch is those 16v lumps do burn a bit of oil so keep an eye on the dip stick.

I hired one of these moooons ago, and I was shocked at how planted they were, and how much fun to drive. IIRC they did well in the BTCC at the time.

Really? My Almera GTi with the same engine doesn't use any at all . Not complaining though

Mine's been spot on as well, apart from a few problems with the paint, but that was probably my fault . Went to a cheapo place for a panel respray when I shouldn't have done... I'm just about to fit 4 Toyo T1-Rs to it, so should be good

Good car there

My sister had the original eGT until one year ago when it got written off and it was a cracking little car. It was just so much to drive because of the handling and the power wasn't bad for the weight and size of the car and the engine was very revvy. She replaced it with a 98 GT and that wasn't such a good car The rev limit had been lowered to 7,000 rpm and it just didn't pull as well as the eGT

I can't imagine it'll be a cheap car if he's into respraying it, that paint will cost a small fortune!

I had L and R plate 'meras. Not a bad drive and relentlessly reliable. The L plate is still going strong despite getting naff-all TLC and very occasional servicing... bulletproof.

I've always thought these were an ideal getaway car...

"Well officer, the vehicle in question was purple, or was it green? Or even brown...?"

I bought a 97 egt as a runaround and have to agree it is a fantastic car.

Handles really well and the engine is very similiar to the honda vtec lump

Thinking about swapping the car with a budget of up to 5k and really don't know what would offer any more than the primera does.
