View Full Version : Donington - Quick report
DavidBrown 12 November 2000, 20:43 It was my first track day today, in ANY car, let alone the Exige. My mind's still spinning with all the sights and sounds I could ramble on for ages.
Suffice to say that I had an excellent time, the weather was sunny (but cold) so by 10am the track was dry (which suited us few RWD guys) - I was originally thinking I should have taken the Scoob.. but it turned out for the best.
It was great to meet up with even more of you, putting faces to names.
My Exige is still playing up engine wise, and was very much down on power, but that didn't stop me pulling good G's through the corners.
I need to buy a job lot of rear-view mirrors and hand them out to the MX5 drivers that wouldn't bloody move out of the way, cos theirs didn't seem to work..
I hope those I gave rides to enjoyed themselves, and apologies to the many that I hadn't the time to take round (esp. Chuckster)
Top stuff. (Here are some pix of my day (
howardb 12 November 2000, 21:24 Thanks, from me and my mate for the rides David. We were well impressed with the car, shame I've just bought an Evo 6 or i could have been tempted with an Exige.
RichB 13 November 2000, 11:52 Lucky bugger, you'd got home and wrote this and I was still on the M3!
Oh yeah, we got Stef on video spinning before the main straight so that will be available soon too! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Type R 13 November 2000, 19:06 Top day, even though brakes were a tad short of stopping power. David next time you go on track you must take me out.Looks great and sounds awesome http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif. I want one. Matt (Civ Type R)
Stef 13 November 2000, 20:25 Leave me alone you lot! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif
'Goof of the Day' seems a bit harsh, but it wasn't the first lap of the first session, it was the third lap. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif
Besides, I wanted to give CK1 a bit of character.
Surely the award should go to someone more deserving though, like the MX5 drivers, the EVO VI drivers, the 944 drivers, the...... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

The damaged repeater lense and scuffs came courtesy of a bollard, but it's all come clean now. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Scoobie_RS_US 14 November 2000, 02:26 Well, I had a VERY good time! My sole purpose for hiring a car and driving up from London was to ride in the 22B... AND I DID!!!
http://www.geocities.com/skitobe/donnington/22b_me1.jpg
Being from the states, we don't have access to all these high-performance exotics... I was in heaven.
I got there too late in the day to get a lot of pics of cars in the pit area, but I did get some. Wish I was there from the start, but I might have spent a couple of hundred Pounds in charity rides if I had... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
I'll make sure that I schedule all of my future business trips around track-days form here on!!!
Thanks for a GREAT time,
Eric

Scoobie_RS_US 14 November 2000, 10:43 The M1 North was not too much trouble, except for the construction zones, where the wide lanes squeezed down to 6 feet wide... that made me a bit nervous. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif I passed the protest convoy as they were heading south, I saw more police vehicles than lorries though...
The travel south was a bit more crowded, but at least I was able to see several of the STi's on the road as they flew past... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Eric
Chris Wilson 14 November 2000, 13:16 I was in the white R33 Skyline and my wife was bemoaning me not having washed it before the event. You did me a favour as it kind of put a merely motorway grubby car in perspective :-) Was there some minor panel damage, she seemed to think the repeater lens was smashed and maybe a bit of wing scuffing? Anyways, rally type cars should look muddy <G>
