View Full Version : Brands Hatch - October 27th
Puff The Magic Wagon! 07 August 2000, 23:25 What with new Forum & all that... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
During WSB this past w/end I have walked (literally) the Indy Circuit. I have been looking at all the lines & all the humps & undulations on the track. These are the bumps/yumps that Playstation/Nintendo/PC don't show. This is what'll make this a TOP DAY on a TOP TRACK http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
So who is going?
(I don't care that it is nearly 3 months away, can't wait http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif )
Stef 08 August 2000, 00:12 Yeah, I watched WSB on tv and just drooled at the prospect of driving on even some of that track.
A little bit like Donno with all those blind crests, dips 'n' things....yummy. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Stef.
JohnS 08 August 2000, 11:28 I'm going, along with about 9 other Scots at the moment http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
We have got discounted group rates for the Thistle brands Hatch Hotel arranged, and also plan to pop in past the Birmingham Motor Show on the way down.
I've been to watch the action at BH a few times, but have never driven it. Can't wait...
Puff The Magic Wagon! 08 August 2000, 11:45 Gregh
There you go, accomodation sorted http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Triggaaar 08 August 2000, 14:17 All booked, and can't wait.
I've had a few goes there in their single seaters - the crests aren't particularly blind (like say Goodwood), but the dips 'n' things certainly make it an interesting cicuit. I haven't been to Donno so can't compare.
All I need to do now is choose some breaks and whether or not to adjust the suspension (Eibachs and or removing bump steer)
James_Harvey 10 August 2000, 15:05 Koni adjustable struts and Eibach springs rock http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif
DocJock 15 August 2000, 21:27 James,
That'll be at least 2 wagons then....
Think we'll have proper brakes by then ? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

sonu 17 August 2000, 21:09 Anyone recommend an insurance co for the track day?
Thanks
Sonu
Puff The Magic Wagon! 17 August 2000, 22:02 Nick Kershaw @ Eggar Lawson doing an SIDC special - £75 for £12000 cover with £750 xs as long as total crashes on the day don't exceed £80000! (Or something like that - John S has the details or search for Eggar Lawson & speak to Nick)
Ian Sutton 19 August 2000, 11:06 I too have sent my cheque off to the SIDC address but can anyone tell me whether they have received confirmation of their place or a date when we will know is to be sent out??
Have done Brands a good many times inc GP circuit , it is the NUTS!!
See you all there (I hope).
...Ian

Still not sure whether to take my pride and joy on a track day (especially after a collegue trashed his bike at Brands last month (and no, he didn't have track day insurance...)). I was wondering will they allow spectators? I only live approx an hour from Brands Hatch and would love to come along say hello and watch the nutters http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Chris
Puff The Magic Wagon! 19 August 2000, 22:18 Ian
I have received confirmation - so will prob arrive for you soon http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Chris
Up to you m8 - but for me the lure of driving on one of the most famous & emotive of UK circuits was an easy decision to make. Eggar Lawson are doing a special rate for us lot, so don't worry to much 'bout the car.
Specatators, I would imagine, will be allowed free access. No reason to charge really. If necessary become my No.2 mechanic (Markus is No.1 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ).
See you there in some form or another http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Chris L 20 August 2000, 12:23 Puff - after reading your exploits over the last few months, that's an offer I can't refuse. Consider yourself to have a second mechanic http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
PS Don't disagree with you about Brands - fantastic track been there many times - just not sure about my skill level http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
simes 20 August 2000, 12:38 Chris L
Well I'm all booked up and raring to go.
If I get it out of 1st gear I'll be happy.
It doesn't really matter what everyone else is doing as long as you enjoy yourself, which I intend to do.
So come along and join me in the complete wuss class http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif.
Cheers
Simon
Chris L 20 August 2000, 20:42 Thank you Simon for the vote of confidence http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Must be an IT thing...
Chris
simes 20 August 2000, 23:16 So are you gonna go for it then?
C'mon, you know you want to!
Cheers
Simon
PS Lucky draw today? Still, a point in the bag! Not a Palace fan (I'll give you a clue, a win tomorrow and we lead the premiership, for a day or so anyway), but I am quite fond of them having lived in Croydon for a few years.
Chris L 21 August 2000, 11:07 Hi Simon
Yes I'm coming - probably as a spectator - can I still blag a ride with someone round the track?
Chris
Re Palace - believe me after their pre-season form - this was a minor miracle.
Chris
Danny Fisher 21 August 2000, 23:00 Place confirmed today. Great time going to be had. Best bit is its only 10 mins from my house.
Dan
simes 21 August 2000, 23:19 Any spare rooms? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Jay m A 13 September 2000, 17:13 Is it fully booked?
If not who do I contact?
Cheers
Justin
Pbone 13 September 2000, 17:51 I'm booked and have conformation. Does anyone have Egar Lawsons phone number?
Stef 13 September 2000, 21:00 This event is fully booked.
There's another one at Donington very soon though.
Watch this space.
Stef.
Puff The Magic Wagon! 13 September 2000, 22:33 Pbone
Do a search on the bbs for "Eggar", "Lawson" or "Kershaw" & that should produce the number. They are doing a "special deal" for SIDC with a pool fund & reduced premiums for this event. JohnS should have the details & I'm hoping for a posting soon about how to sign up (Oi John - sort it out http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )
I notice that you're from "Cambs" - mini-convoy on the (early) morning?
(1 month & 14 days & counting http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif )
DocJock 14 September 2000, 07:21 Pbone
Egger Lawson are on 01159 415255 , ask for Nik
DJ
JohnS 14 September 2000, 09:48 You can sign up for the Insurance Deal for Brands Hatch by phoning Nik on 0115 941 5255 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Every SIDC member taking part in the event is being offered the same excellent deal, so no need to haggle.
He will take all your details over the phone. Alternatively, he can fax or e-mail you out a proposal form, which you can fill in and post back.
Jay m A 14 September 2000, 10:02 Thanks Stef
Looks like I'll be spectating then.
Cut my first trackday teeth at Trax and want more! Especially since I only got a few laps in due to someone going off... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
