terryb 17 December 2005, 23:49 A few of you are aware of my plans for this already and I'm nearly ready to go live with this - I have 5 out of 7 events confirmed. However I thought it might be good to share with you what I have arranged so far.
For those of you that don't know, this Championship is to include 3 Sprints and 4 Hillclimbs around the South/ Midlands area (oh and one in Yorkshire.. :D ). The Championship will be open to Subaru Impreza's and you will need to be a member of SIDC to be eligible (and hold at least a non-race National B licence). Entry fee tbc. There will be at least 3 classes and the top 4 scoring events will count out of the 7 toward final Championship positions. There will be good prize money up for grabs. I have the following planned so far: -
April 23rd - Curborough - Sprint
May 21st - Loton Park - Hillclimb
June 4th - Harewood - Hillclimb (tbc)
July 1st - Goodwood - Sprint
July 29th & 30th - Wiscombe - Hillclimb
August 20th - North Weald - Sprint (tbc)
Sept 24th - Prescott - Hillclimb
This will be an official MSA approved championship and properly sponsored, so there will be good prizes up for grabs for the winners, etc.
I will also have a dedicated website up and running in the near future.
Please let me know what you think Guys, and if you are interested in competing and haven't sent me an email already, then please send an email titled "Scooby Speed" to terry.buckel@btopenworld.com and I will add you to my mailing list.
Cheers
Terry :D

PS Just need to get an Impreza now.......
Richard
Jay m A 19 December 2005, 13:43 Great stuff Terry
Its probably been mentioned elsewhere, but what is the minimum outlay to get going WRT
non-race National B licence
racewear
timing brackets etc
anything else
Cheers
terryb 19 December 2005, 13:55 Jay - see below
non-race National B licence - £34 for 2006 IIRC
racewear - FIA approved overalls from about £60 for the very cheapest to £500+ (keep an eye on ebay). Plus helmet to meet regulations.
timing brackets etc - made mine with some 2x1 ply and black maskers
anything else - yellow tape on your battery earth lead
I'll post extracts from the regulations soon regarding overalls/ helmet requirements. Each event is likely to cost around £70 to £80 to enter.
Cheers
Terry
Etheridge-Bird 19 December 2005, 14:47 Loton Park events (National B) were £80 (ish) in 2005.

same as Gurston Down. I expect them all to be pretty similar.

I have not managed to get to Gurston (yet) - must make a visit in 2006.

I'll give you a shout when I have details of when Gurston are running next year - not sure if I'll commit to a full championship with them yet - but may well do (only 4 events) as I could have a chance of winning in my new STi5 Type RA V-Ltd :D:D:D - just a little quicker than the P1 - especially with 363bhp/ 352 lb-ft torque and adjustable coilovers/ GEMS (anti-lag). In the one event I ran last year, I was only 1.5s off the class winner in my final run - which itself was about 7s quicker than my 1st - and this was the first and only time I have been to Gurston - and I loved it but also scared myself sh$tless when I didn't back off going up the hill to the finish line on my 2nd run as I didn't know if I'd make it round the bend without falling off... :D
Cheers
Terry
911 19 December 2005, 18:40 I hope you have me on the list also Terry.
With a bit of luck the dates will not clash with the National A meetings (I know Loton does not), but count me in.
Glad you re-joined with the Best Midland Club Richard! (remember Practice Weekend in April)
I suppose you will all be going quickly, so I ask in advance for respect for your elder (elderly?) competitor.
A bit of Loton Park:

911 19 December 2005, 19:34 Any chance of a provisional Rules Sheet?
Of particular interest will be any class splits ie 2 liter/2.5 etc and tyres, ie 1A/1B/slicks.
As you ask; the meets difficult for me would be Goodwood and Wiscombe purely on a distance basis, the others are easy, thus 4 out-of 6 works for me!
Graham.
terryb 19 December 2005, 19:54 Hi Graham
Of course you're on the list mate. Will give you a call soon as well - said I would ages ago but just haven't got round to it yet.
Cheers

terryb 20 December 2005, 00:36 Check out the video on the Wiscombe Park website - http://www.wiscombepark.co.uk/
Click on The Hill and then the download prompt.
It's another cracking video :D

911 20 December 2005, 08:43 Ha!
Maybe I will do Wiscombe after all.
Much longer than I thought, about the same length as Loton, and very similar to Barbon Manor.
My cars ready for next season,(waiting for the new AST's ) is anybody elses?
Graham
Jay m A 20 December 2005, 09:52 Nearly! Need to update my projects thread a bit
Etheridge-Bird 20 December 2005, 10:20 Graham
Thanks for that :D
I really have enjoyed my 3 years at Loton, and feel very proud to be a member of HDLCC.
Only managed one event in 2005 in a 205 GTi (which is now sold).
I look out for you when I take the Rabbit Run home, via back end of Wombourne :D

Hope you can make it.

John Stevenson 20 December 2005, 16:41 If you were prepared to reach a little further north I could offer you a sprint venue and an august date, but I suspect it would be to far away for your 'market'.
Not done a lot of work to the car yet but have almost all the bits planned now sitting in the garage in 'kit' form.
Where the most nothern venue you already have tee'd up ?

Hi John
Thanks for the kind offer - but I'm afraid it's just too far this time - but next year - definately maybe (cue for a song... :D:D ). Depending on the success of 2006, I can see 2007 having many more venues around the country.
As for the most Northerly venue - that will be Loton Park, near Shrewsbury.
Cheers
Terry
David_Wallis 20 December 2005, 18:08 Any restrictions on engine, mods, tyres, and noise?
David
911 20 December 2005, 19:21 108 Db no options, any hill climb venue will max at 108 and will not take kindly to anti-lag pops and bangs either.
My Impreza scores 87 Db.
Graham.
terryb 20 December 2005, 22:21 Any restrictions on engine, mods, tyres, and noise?
David
David
Shouldn't be any restrictions apart from the noise level as already mentioned by Graham.
As for limitations on spec - nothing really - but there will be different classes depending on the spec - yet to be decided.
Cheers

Terry, I assumed that would be the case. Maybe 2007, if the championship is successfull I can help with a weekend 'away' for the competitors with a double header, two events, on different courses. Camping on site, beer near at hand. Very technical wee circuit.

That sounds like a cracking idea John :D:D:D
David_Wallis 22 December 2005, 12:34 Let me know when something is finalised as I think the new car could do well when finished :)
davidwallis@gmail.com
David_Wallis 22 December 2005, 12:35 Also what revs, distance , under load??? is the noise measured?
John Stevenson 22 December 2005, 13:32 Also what revs, distance , under load??? is the noise measured?
2/3 Max revs (so 4000..cough), 1M@45deg, no load, 108db
---john (AKA Gizmo)---
911 22 December 2005, 14:03 You would NEVER get away with 4000rpm in the Midlands..they look for the Red Line on the tacho and tell you what to rev to! 66% of 8000 = about 5K..
Ziinnngg.
Prescott do it on the track, about 100 feet from the start so engine at full load in second. The rest do it exactly as John says
As to the Championship, I feel that any Impreza over 400 bhp should be excluded as 'too fast to Race' and put in Sports Libre well out of the way from my 399 bhp Sti :norty:
Will be a great Championship.
