View Full Version : Nurburg in September
James_Harvey 19 April 2001, 15:21 Cost? Depends on how long you go for, how many laps you do and how much beer you drink http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Basic costs are...
Ferry Crossing: Approx £120 per car.
Room: £20 a night B&B per person.
Petrol: You will do roughly 1100 miles in a weekend, depending on laps. Budget on about £40 for a full tank of super in Germany.
Laps: £85 for 12
Meals, Booze and Misc: Dunno, £30 a day perhaps? Depends on how mad you go.
Travel Insurance: £20 - £30.
Green Card: Make sure you have one. My insurers charged £25 for this.
So for a Fri - Sun session:
Ferry: £120
Room: £40
Fuel: £220 based on 200 miles per tank (remember this is a combo of track and motorway usage)
Laps £85
Meals: £75
Insurance: £55
Total: £595
So thats £600 give or take.
Thats for a full on weekend with no scrimping.
You could probably do it for £450 with only 6 laps and not getting completely b0ll0cked every night a la Stef http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Hope that helps
James.
Rich_R 19 April 2001, 15:32 Sounds about right - remember tyres take a hammering too (esp SO2's)

However... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif ....I have already booked for some harness belts and some semi-slicks for May so I will be rearing to go either July or September sounds good (August=family hols).
I'd say let's finalize a date asap so we can all get organized with plenty of time (I'll be coming up with at lease another 4 people from Italy - 911 996, MY00 turbo, Elise, Elise 135).

Can we confirm a date please mate .... will it be on the 28th of Sept as I will need to book holiday.....
Also we can then start getting some idea of how many are going to be coming in Sept.
Mark
James_Harvey 23 April 2001, 11:13 All righty then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
How does...
Out Sept 28th @ Midday.
Full day on track Sat 29th.
Full day on thack Sun 30th.
Back Oct 1st @ 19:00'ish.
Sound?
Harj, would you bo coming on this? Would you be cool to sort the Hotel again (as the word discount was mentioned http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif).
Based on the above dates and times, I have got the following crossing prices based on Car and 2 people:
Seacat - £162.00 (
Mkhan 23 April 2001, 13:15 Hi James
Those dates sound good to me.
Does the SeaFrance Ferry take longer than the Seacat?? If so by how long....??? Otherwise I think I might take the train or the Seacat....although I am not keen on that parking lark http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
Like you said we may get a better deal if we wait until mid August to book.... lets wait and see.....
I have already put my holiday dates in...... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Roll on September.....
Mark
James_Harvey 23 April 2001, 13:30 Yep... ferry takes just over an hour, so I suppose thats an extra 20 mins.
I think ill wait till nearer the time to book a crossing, to see if the prices drop at all.
Parking aside, Seacat was a good way to travel. Its relatively quick and provides a comfortable break in a long journey. Unlike the cattle crates of the shuttle.
James.
Mkhan 23 April 2001, 14:23 Yeah your right the Seacat was a nice way to travel and was quite quick once we had a beer or two http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Lets see in August what the prices are like then make the bookings......

James.
MattOz 04 July 2001, 14:09 James,
I'm far too scared to go again! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Matt
I am still going.........
Yes Please http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
I think we should use Bike 2 Track again for the travel and accomodation as John Reeves did a great time considering I can kick his ass around the Ring :P LOL
According to John, there is a guest house around the corner from the Zurburg which would be around £20 per person per night!
Crossings are also alot cheaper through John.
Harj...
James_Harvey 04 July 2001, 17:54 Harj,
Sounds like you know da man http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif
Can I leave it in your capable hands, or would you rather have a rest this time and have someone else do the organisation bit?
Let me know...
James.

Renault21Porsche0 05 July 2001, 16:42 Evening geezers,
Even though I still havent come down after last weekend, (and the Renault clocking its 100,000th mile at the 'ring), much to someones surprise (Harj) I see no reason why September should be out of the question.
If anyones daft enough I may have room for a passenger or two.
Thanks to Harj for his hard work in organising the last trip.
Cheers
Lee
