DominicA 26 March 2001, 00:16 James?? James who??? Hi Linda... FAOFLMAO Dom Colin Berry 26 March 2001, 00:27 Yes Hi Linda! Blow Dog 26 March 2001, 00:52 LOL I am still giggling. Although at the time we were getting a little irrate with each other, in hidsight I realise what a damn hoot we had! Ronnie. Man you are the funniest ever. Whilst 10 Scoobs and me are at a set of traffic lights waiting at red (the whole of belgium looking) I put across the radio: "I want to hear some engine noise" That was it, a chorus of Scoobysports and followed by Ronnie doing the 1/4 mile (clutch left for me to pick up). Mark, you are well and truely mad mate. The word slip-stream has new meanings to me now. Another great memory is 15 Scoobs/Evo's doing 140MPH down the highways. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif Cheers to all: Rob the bruiser (can he fix it!) James et (wife?) I loved the way you were talking thru the radio! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Mark 'I cant go under 140 MPH' Alex 'this field is mine!' Ronnie 'you can still see silver in my car' Quentin 'I was warming my car up' And everyone else I missed , Colin, Don and Sean. All great company. Thanks a lot for organising it Theo and Turboke. Top job and awesome guys! (sorry Theo, forgot your wifes name, say thank) turboke 26 March 2001, 07:46 Thank you very, very much for coming (despite the weather) , you can see some pics at Mkhan 26 March 2001, 09:36 Hi all Well what a trip!!! Those Belgium’s sure know how to put a MAP together don’t they http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif Anyway thanks to all those that made the trip worth while, it was good riding with you all. Thanks Sean for the use of the TA-200, I am going to buy one of those next week.. Big thanks to James for allowing me to slip Stream most of the way to Belgium http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Nice one Cem for sorting out the meeting place and times…. It was good speaking to you Rob AKA the Bouncer. Big hello to Kim & Dom, didn’t get a chance to say bye at the terminal, did you get the beers back safely http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Oh hello to the dude in the white WRX, can’t remember your name the one with the blonde that you were riding…oops I mean, was riding with you……., shame you have to sell the motor….. Hmmmm I think that’s about it, I look forward to seeing all those going to the ring on the 12th, Should be a real good blast….. Damn almost forgot someone http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif BIG SHOUT to the man with the TV in his motor, the one and only (170mph) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Ronnie H and his side kick Paul AKA camera man How the heck did you get passed custom’s with all the WEED stuck to your car and I get STOPPED http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif Thanks for the fun guys……….look forward to the next one Mark James_Harvey 26 March 2001, 10:39 Yep... a great if knackering day http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Lets make a weekend of the next one eh? Never known petrol consumption to be so high, probably something to do with towing a Scooby at http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif miles an hour http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Moment of the day was definately a certain peice of grass... hilarious! Have to go wash the car now thanks to Mr H and his bad influence http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/image/emoticons/laugh.gif Those radios are a fantastic idea... entertainment of truly muppet proportion http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif Will definately be investing http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif Should have some piccies up tonight. Onwards to the Ring http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif James. [This message has been edited by James_Harvey (edited 26 March 2001).] SeanG 26 March 2001, 11:00 Hi to all the UK guys and girls, Karen and I had an excellent time yesterday (even with the 12 hour wait for lunch!!!). I have been wanting to get a Scoobysport backbox for a while but was thinking of a way of convincing Karen that the expense was worthwhile. After travelling behind the 'sonic booms' of Rob and Mark she has now told me we HAVE to get one fitted soon....so nice one lads!! Good to meet you all and thanks for slowing down every now and then so I could catch up. (I only had enough bottle to clock 130!!). Hope to meet up again soon for a similar jaunt. PS. you can get those radios from The Link mobile phone shops and Snow+Rock shops. Cheers Sean RonaldoH 26 March 2001, 11:04 Great Tour. We had a very funny experience from start to finish. Met Kim and Dom at lunch time at Folkestone Euro Tunnel. We had no ticket, but blagged it into the terminal and got one using Kim and Doms name. Great Ticket process! Get delayed on the Euro Tunnel and Dom points out a small cut in his P-Zero on the near side. Nothing to worry about and may need to look for a tyre is the general technical decision. Get to Calias, and Dom drives down a pot hole that is a good 7 inches deep and 5 inches wide. *WHACK*, sizzle....oh dear. That will be a massive hole in the tyres side wall just as we arrive. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Oh no, but its ok...we have Subaru Assistance and we also have Calais with all the friendly tyre dealers and all the friendly people. NOT. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif Go to one tyre place, young apprentice comes out to have a chat about my car, friendly lad. Tells me in French (from what I understood) that his company keep all Pirellis in stock of "special sizes" and we should not have a problem. Then the little manager comes out, looking similar to a 15 year old pieki off the film "snatch" and says "NO NO NO NO" to us in french. So we get in the car and leave some good old English rubber on their driveway for them to scrape up, boil and have for dinner the next day. We also burned the place down. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Get back to the Euro tunnel to fing that Scoob Assistance have called, and asked us to go and rent a car locally. Now, being in the trade I know how this works. If you go to rent a car in France you will find out why I insisted not to go down this route. Even from the large franchises, its to much of a risk that your Credit Card details order some Pizzas and some gear on QVC. Know what I mean? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif Subaru assistance then tell us they cannot source a P-Zero in Calais, fair point as we cannot either. So off to St Niklaas (Belguim where the people are lovely) to get to the hotel. 50 mph all the way on the M-way as Doms on a spare, Paul drives my scoob because I am falling asleep at the wheel. So I play back some footage from previous meets on the camcorder through the tele in the scoob http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Kills some time, but the best bit about this was the 150 miles we got to 1/4 of a tank. I could not believe my eyes http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif 5 hours later, we are sat at dinner. We are then confronted in a petrol station by some Belguim chap who attempts to push in front of me, he also then says I am a "friendly guy". Now that is funny, for those that know me you know I am friendly and not what you see on the tin. But this pi$$ed me off. Dom was in stiches, I kept my cool and we left. They then (three blokes in a car) shouted abuse at us (we had Kim with us, Doms wife...so not very nice of them) as they drove off. Not good, so again we remain cool and ignore their abuse and beeping. Until the passenger in the back shouts out by opening the door " You Assssssssholes!!!", like Arnie! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif So he gets a good old south london reply of "You Nosher! followed by Kim hurling abuce back! We were shocked, mind you 50 mph for 150 miles would wind anyone up to boiling point. We managed to source a tyre from the dealer in Troch in Belguim where the meet was on the sunday. Thanks to Hans for this and for being so friendly. Shame the tyre prices are so expensive though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif We then scoot back to St Nicklaas in my old banger and go into town to find a bar watching the England game. Er, no hope. But we find Scotland VS Belguim and thanks to Colin Berry for chearing when they scored. I remain convinced that the people in Belguim are all 6'4'' plus and hard looking. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif We left shortly after. Nice meal on saturday, bed early and watch some tele. Paul uses the free minute of Porn while I am in the shower, I cry myself to sleep until Colin appears at our window looking like the bloke from Cape Fear. Doms RB5 drives off down the road, I look bothered for 30 secs until I see its Doms, last year this happened at 6.00am and It was James Harvey going for a drive, I thought someone was stealing the car and gave chase in boxer shorts and an England Shirt. Very funny, and the piss is still taken about that, although I remain defiant that if it was being stolen I caught them! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif The meet was organised well as last time, 50 odd cars met at the Scoob Dealership (where MY01s in full spec cost £14,000! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif ) As soon as the Brits arrived (Blowdog, Rob, Mark "I am proper mad, get out my way" Khan, Quentin and his missus, Alex and his mate and the other guys in the UK silver one(I am dreadfull with names http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif ) we were all excited and looked forward to some good driving roads etc etc. Yet again we all got lost. Not funny, as Cem was getting Irate http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif . To cap it off they all had walkie talkies (Paul nabbed one later for the shed we were in) . We all then left the Brewery early to beat everyone to lunch. That worked, NOT. We got proper lost and arrived as they all finished their meals. Theo found this very funny, but that said he is one of the friendliest people I know and along with his wife made us all feel welcome and helped us go the right way home, thanks Theo http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif he also gave us a map. Colin (aged 45) stole it I think, but thats Colin http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif We head home to take the coast road and have a few giggles, I melt my clutch on a street and eveyone says my car is on fire. It smells like that for 15 miles, but its ok. Me and Paul are still recovering from a curry we had on Thursday. Some good little brisk blats on the way home, a few flames here and there. Back to the terminal at at Calais, buy some beer and then back to the UK. Mark gets stopped at the passport control because he is on the New Scotland Yards most wanted list http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif and we all get through with no problems. My car is also covered in mud and grass because I managed to get stuck on this field with all these other juvenile scoob owners and all of a sudden we were all spinning around. After a stressful "lets get lost again" session It makes everyone chuckle and my car depsoits a good acre of land on the E40 on our way to the restraunt. Its still dirty now, I am not going to clean it ever again. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Great laugh, better weather needed and I hope Subaru Assistance who said they cannot source a Tyre anywhere in Belguim as we were getting one fitted at a dealership compensate Kim and Dom in the right manner! Ronnie Paul Milton 26 March 2001, 11:18 What else can I add to that http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Great Weekend, Great People nice to meet you all Paul http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif DrEvil 26 March 2001, 11:24 Sounds like I missed a riot http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif KimA 26 March 2001, 11:42 What can I add? Absolutely fantastic, spot on Ronnie http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif A big shout going out to Ronnie and Paul for Friday AND Saturday morning - you the boys!! Sorry we missed everyone last night at Calais - we managed to sneak on to the 1951 train in the end with 240 bottles of beer - hic - rear suspension? smension, who needs it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif (Don't want to rub things in, but the train was empty - only had about 15-20 cars on it). Apologies about the abuse at the garage, but all I can say is that they deserved it - cowards (was just waiting for the guy to fall out of the back door whilst speeding away from us towards the motorway!) - asssoles (with Arnie accent). Favourite moments? Asssoles (above - giggled about that one all weekend), triple+ vodka for only £1 in our hotel (result), food (!), sedate drives http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif along the motorways (when we didn't have to do 50mph that is), chocolate (thanks MarkK), Theo and wife laughing hysterically at us when we got lost (really???) finding the viewing point, grass incident (messy), etc. etc. etc. LOL to you all - till Holland in September? Kim (aka scared of a people carrier/train) & Dom (aka scared of a paper bag) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif p.s. to Ronnie - thanks for not mentioning the train incident (however, I do have to mention that Dom did a similar thing on the way back to Calais - paper bag blown out towards us from under the car in front) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif p.p.s. the nightmare parts don't seem so bad in the morning do they? Colin Berry 26 March 2001, 11:56 Great to meet everyone over the weekend. The weekend started for me in McDonalds in Orpington when I got a call from Dom and Kim asking if I could source a P Zero for them and bring it out with me on Saturday. As it turned out they managed to get a tyre in Belgium so my assistance was not required. We got the 'Le Shuttle' on Saturday morning after a long delay due to cancellations. After a non-eventful train trip we drove a full speed racing a 2001 Fireblade for much of the trip to Brugge (and we lost!!). Parking is Brugge took ages but after eventually finding a space we strolled around the city and purchased the obligatory chocolates! Onward then to St Nicolas and the Motel Beveren (brilliant value tel. 003237758623) where we find Paul changing Doms wheel, Dom just walking around playing pocket billiards. As Paul puts the spare back in the boot they discover where the jack handle hides on a Scooby!!! Into town for a few beers and to watch the football. I shout out when Scotland score and lots of Belgium fans look at me whilst Ronnie dives under the table! We followed this up with a great meal at the Beveran and then off to bed since with summer time we were about to loose 2 hours from our sleep. Up in the morning early for breakfast, massive row with Wendy (as usual!!!) sees the day start off really badly. So now, breakfast and some time later we meet Ronnie/Paul and Kim/Dom at a Shell garage in St Nicolas. We then speed off to somewhere(?) Arrive at the Subaru Dealers and surprised with how many have turned up. Must have been 50 to 80 Scoobies. All the locals really interested in Kim/Doms RB5. The dealer laid on coffee and cakes (apparently funded with profits made from a tyre sale the day earlier) and exhibited some pricey accessories but did not take credit Cards!!! The other Brits then arrived (Blowdog, Rob, Mark, Khan, Quentin and his missus, Alex and his mate and the other guys in the UK silver one. We left at about 10.00 using a map supplied. This map turned out to be a joke and basically we just got totally lost for a few hours. At one point, when lost we stumbled across an area of grass and suddenly there were about 7 Scoobies pirouetting! Ronnies car emerged covered in mud! Many thanks to the Dutch contingent who waited for Wendy and I as we set off for France in the wrong direction! The run from the brewery to the restaurant (15 miles on the guide - 75 miles using our route) involved lots of u-turns but we made it in the end. We were handed a map for the second leg but we had all had enough so declined. The route home took us along the coast road. Blowdog wanted us to stop at a bakery. I managed to find one in a really congested area, consequently it took about 20 mins for us all to park. Mark shamed me into buying some chocolate for Wendy! At De Panne we rejoined the motorway and all met at City Europe for a photo session and duty free purchases. 9 Scoobies and some red thing boarded the train and we took the time to watch Ronnies video. Off the train and up the M20 at 80 which, having been travelling at an indicated 150 the same day seemed almost pedestrian. James_Harvey 26 March 2001, 11:57 Oi.... I was there too.... and the missus (Linda)! And after my best efforts to direct you to the lunch point http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif Where did you get to by the way http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif James.
quote:
Originally posted by RonaldoH: Great Tour. <...snip> As soon as the Brits arrived (Blowdog, Rob, Mark "I am proper mad, get out my way" Khan, Quentin and his missus, Alex and his mate and the other guys in the UK silver one(I am dreadfull with names http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif ) we were all excited and looked forward to some good driving roads etc etc. <snip...> Ronnie [/quote] Neil F 26 March 2001, 13:34 As someone who was returning from a weeks skiing holiday in Courcheval, I would like to thank you all for being there to meet me and welcome me back to England. You didn't have to you know...... It looked like you all had a great time (mud all over Ronnie H's car gave me an idea of what sort of time you'd all had). Nice to see Rob in the ticket queue (what wheels are they, I mean't to find you at the terminal and ask as they look pretty cool) and bump into Cem with my trolley full of beer in the duty free section. Although I also got the 8.21 crossing I didn't manage to get in the same carraige but I knew you were all on as the train attendant came up to me and said, there are loads of these up the front mate, what the hells going on! I did get some video footage of all the cars in the car park (I sneaked my car on the end for that, and having roared the wrong way up the one way system towards a Police car to do it I thought I'd be the one getting the rubber glove at customs!) so hopefully I'll be able to get some stills to post. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Neil. (White STi4 latecomer) Fullonloon 26 March 2001, 15:29 And not a Yurgen in sight... Fullonloon 26 March 2001, 15:31 Pics up on the Dutch site if you want to go take a look - as the man says. Quite a few... Had a great day, my last weekend of ownership- and it's been great fun. Thanks for making it so. Nice to meet you all yesterday - you know who you are, and with a bit of luck I will be back soon. Cheers Q Alex Creasey 26 March 2001, 15:53 Having just woken up (good job I took today off!). I'd just like to thank everyone for making the trip so worth while and such a good laugh. Still smiling now from a certain Ronnie inspired field excursion, various leisurely(?!) jaunts down the motorway (Mark you are a nutter), and all those little coastal towns that must have thought an alien invasion was under way whenever Cem asked to hear some engine noise! A top day out and a well organised event. Look forward to the next one. Alex. Mkhan 26 March 2001, 16:13 QUENTIN...yeah thats his name...... hope to see you again one day dude. Colin I missed you off the list, sorry M8 I hope the chocs WORKED http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif if you know what I mean.... James, make sure you do buy a TA-200 for the Ring trip, like Cem said Linda has a great radio voice..... Sean you MUST get a backbox...ENJOY Damn had to edit because I also forgot Alex.....sorry son.... Mark [This message has been edited by Mkhan (edited 26 March 2001).] RonaldoH 26 March 2001, 17:04 Ok! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif I did not inspire the grass playing antics, my car just seemed to come of worst. I was turning around, my front wheels hit the grass and my car slid onto the field. So I had to try to get it back over, and then you all followed and started doing "dougnuts" (or whatever you hooligans call it) on this field. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Cem then decides to hack his Makk over the grass and he was laughing like a kid! I was doing my level best to get off the grass and to get away from all you mud flingers that were coating my car. Not nice of you. Bad English rebels. Grrrrr I hope someone got a piccy, that was seriously funny. ROFLMAO Rob W 26 March 2001, 20:12 Hi Guys/Gals, Wow wot a drive! I'm glad we all adhered to the speed limits http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif especially Mark http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif It was nice to meet all of you, but if I do it again I think I'll stop over for the weekend http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Big thanks to Sean and Karen for keeping me on the right tracks when we got a tad lost! You have to get the exhaust for sure mate http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Shame your selling the Type R Quentin it's well cool, hope you get another soon. The synchronized doughnuts was as sight you don't see very often, it did make me laugh http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif shame I never got a picture. The look on the locals faces was a classic as we larged it along the coast BIG STYLEE!! Hey Neil, I bet you wondered wot was going on at the terminal when you saw us lot. Nice to see you again mate BTW the wheels are Stilauto SR500. It was a great day and now i've had a good kip I'm sure I'd do it again http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif So till next time......
