So I went Christmas and birthday shopping (mine) I thought I'd get all I wanted in 1 hit. List was for tripod, monopod (mum's pressie) and Cokin adapers (my pressie from my parents).

Anyhow, I settles on a 055 Manfrotto tripod, they sales guy pulls out a selection of heads, no problem, get on well with the ball head. Ahh here is the problem, someone has put a returned head back in brand new stock, bugger. The next thing that happened suprized the heck out of me, the sales guy turned round said if I want it, he'll do the head for £29!!! This thing retails at £40, and had 2 extra QR plates in the box, and was in mint condition, needless to say I bit his hand off :D :D Yes I got the 486 ball head and 2 extra QR plates for £29 inc vat :D

BTW how cheap are Manfrotto monopods :eek2:


Now the down side, he thinks they are selling the Nikkor 28 - 70 F2.8 at less than a grand, :norty: RRp is just under £1200. Needless to say I will be ringing later to find out, and if they are :norty: :norty: and the bank manager can have another heart attack :D

Next time you're near the same shop try out a 322RC2 - a cracking head... so to speak!

...and then try out a Neotec 458B.... as well...

... and THEN discuss with your bank manager!

Errr can I pass on that please. My bank manager already hates me cos of the company I used to work for and that I've spent 3k in the last 3 months on camera's and accessories.

Yup, getting to know that skint feeling rather well. Just had to scrap ideas of getting the D200 cos I might be jobless on 31st May next year, so I'll have to restirct my buying power to the 2 lenses and no more.

Shades, I have a Neotec with 322RC2 joy-stick head sitting right next to me now :cool:

And a 055Pro with 486 ball head in the other room :D I have my reasons ;)

Neotec is superb, but 055 is much better value.
