Dad threw an old plonker of an Astra 16V into his car as he hasnt finished building his proper spec engine yet, smoked it's nuts off all day. :brickwall


I had major drama. :nono:
What a drama, after finish of last stage about 300 yrds after last control, the power steering pipe burst , and sprayed all the power steering fluid on the turbo and set on fire. Managed to blow it out (with my breath) and when i started it up, it just went into flames again. Blew it out again, nearly killing myself in the process, david standing beside me with Hand held extingushier (about a foot away ):freak3:
Ended up getting towed to the finish by my dad, only to be OTL.
I would of finished 28th O/A and 13th in Class had i got to the Last time control 2 mins earlier.:mad:
Dropped loads of time on SS1 and SS2 as a pipe came off the turbo,:cry: so we hardly got any boost off the turbo. :o( thats why i fell down so much after the first two.:Whatever_

Although !!! After long stages on the woodpecker, Cambrain and even SS1 and 2 of Grizedale, the car always poofed loads of smoke out, and could never figure it out.
Now and only now, I know it was the power steering pipe burning on the Turbo's heat sheild.
So, at least it's solved the mistery smoke !!! :luxhello:
