Now then....

I/we/us are trying to organize a driving/camping(hehe) 'expedition' to the hillier and twistier parts of Wales....

Thinking of the 1st or 2nd weekend in September(less traffic than August?)
Leaving sometime Friday/saturday - returning Sunday.

So whos interested then?

jase.

I dont know Wales from my arse so any info on roads/routes/sites etc will be most appreciated....

Jase mate,

As you know, i'm well up for any driving/drinking (not at the same time I might add http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) frolics that are taking place.

I will certainly be joining you on your sheep dodging/shagging (delete as applicable) expedition to the Welsh mountains.

Might have to take on the Nicky Grist role if the new motor is devoid of rally pedigree! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Come on guys, this is gonna be a blast!

Yep.....this should be a good one.

Around the roads of Snowdonia i would think, plenty of sheep, er.... i mean, interesting roads and loads of campsites, this is one i won`t miss....unlike Donno last week.

Jase et al....it may be interesting to point out that the Manx Rally is running early in September...this could be on the 10th and 11th...if we want to attend then we may need to plan around this.

Cheers

Ian.

PS: What are these tent thingys http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ?

I'm up for it as all my damned college work will be over by then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

Second or third weekend is better for me as I may be in Devon on 2nd.

Also don't push it back to 24th as that is Northern Meet 4! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Does anyone make a beer fridge for a 5 door?

I should hope it is electric for that price as it looks just like a 'trendy' coolbox' I may be off down the camping shop to see what the 12V fridge options are though before I buy one.

When I usually need one (Last week in November http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif) it is usually cold enough outside to cool your beers and a few other bits http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Nice site by the way, top marks to Cheam Motors, pity it's all for MY98 on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

The main thing I need is some means of stopping the boot contents having the opposite effect of a well trained Trunk Monkey! Any ideas?

Chris - I'll be taking my Vid camera..so a Grist/speilberg role would be well handy.

Paul - With what looks like half the Dartford Tunnel 'poking' out of the rear of your Pope mobile type-R...I'd be carefull when the sheep are at your back..... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Ian - good point - forgotten about that(as usual)..any ideas?

J...I shall be taking sweets...and a top secret syphoning device thingy which unknown to your goodself will procede to drain your nice big water tank while on the move ...you will know nothing... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Anyway...has anyone done this Wales thing before then ??

Morning campers......

Spoke to Kev last night and he has kindly offered to bring his camping stove and the likes.......bacon sarnies and mugs of tea.
Probably best if we make use of a local ale house for evening meal http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

So all we need know is a meeting place on the Saturday morning...anybody got any ideas, on the A5 Shrewsbury way will probably be best....

Paul
PS. can you get tents with onsuite bathrooms!

"bing bong ..... Morning Campers" ...

Just an update folks, as Paul said above I'm willing to bring my propane stove, frying pan, water etc for Sunday morning refreshments .. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

We will have to come to some sort of decision on what ya want to do on the food front, I know some people don't do the food thing first thing so it could be a case of "bring ya own food" and cook it on my stove ??

What are everyone's thoughts ?? I don't mind getting a few packs of bacon and a few loaves of bread and going "dutch" between us ... it has to be a group decision of all who are coming ...

And before ya say it I aint spending all Sunday morning doing a catering core food service http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif But we do need to get it sorted asap ...

Yippee...

its hotting up...

glad to see Mr. Firefox will be in attendance...J has become somewhat 'underground' of recent http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

It seems that we've pretty much decided on Camping (whats that then ?)...so I guess I will need to purchase a tent amongst other things.

Any Ideas what sort of tent ? how much to pay ? I can't even remember if I have a sleeping bag LOL.

I have a very comfortable leather bed sofa which I could drag behind my car http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I will also need to purchase the following items.

* Collapsible Hotel Room...(fits in boot)
* 2 x 24 pack of stella
* 4 x 20 Marlboros (not for me....PaulW smokes like a wild thing)
* 1 x 32 pack anadin extra
* 1 x Sheep repellent spray

hehehe

Can't wait

OK....

so less than 2 weeks till the 'event'

does anyone have any fave driving spots they wish to visit ?

I personally think we should travel across the northern coast....they have some fantastic sweeping bends through huge tunnels cut in the hills....its like Gran Tourismo but in real life. Imagine a 8 scoobies in a tunnel....hehehe http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Other than that....I ain't got a clue.

Ian

PS: My AP 6-pots won't be ready either...which is a shame http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif....but fantastic developed brakes are worth waiting for IMHO.
