Default What do you think of Graham Walkers in Chester?

Hi everyone

I am looking to buy myself an Impreza in the near future. I have found a couple of nich vehicles on the web site of Graham Walkers Ltd in Chester.

I was wondering what they are like to deal with. Are the straight up and a joy or a bunch of theiving gypsys.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ta

I looked there before buying my STi, always seemed over priced to me. Not very keen on letting you test drive the vechicles either, was told I would have to come back on a different day to test drive it!

I bought my first Scooby from there August this year. It was a 1 owner from new mica blue classic with full Subaru service history. It was a bit over priced but always found the cars with full dealer service history go for better money. In the deal I got a few extra's put in like Tracker at cost price no charge for fitting, 2 new front tyres and a full service. I dealt with Matt, he is very helpfull and test drive was no problem. Sometimes there is only 1 person working there not all of the time they can do test drives but will do it for you as soon as they can. I also found that like most garages now they will try to bring servicing prices down as much as they can to keep in competition with the local rivals as I've found out recently.

Bought my P1 from there in March ... again it was a little overpriced but they gave me a good price for the 2000 Turbo I was trading in so that compensated.

If they are short of staff they can be reluctant to give a test drive but will happily arrange one for another time with a bit of prior warning. Sevice is friendly (average knowledge) and they helped rectify a problem after i'd bought the car.

Know they have tried to sell a couple of dogs though (as per thread above) but if you know what to look for (or get an AA/RAC inspection) then can't see why you'd specifically avoid them...!?

........because they are the kind of people who would 'sell a couple of dogs', which means I'll go elsewhere. They lost out on my 20K because of their reputation gained here and elsewhere.

Thanks for the comments so far.....

Are there any other 'specialist dealers' in the north of England who can be trusted. I don't really want to go to a francised dealer as the prices are crazy.

Get the car from anywhere you want, but make sure you get it checked out properly. The guys from Prosport were ace, and i think they were a lot cheaper than any RAC check would be.

Remember a car bought from a dealer other than a subaru dealer wont have any comprehensive warranty. Have you tried calling the official dealers and asking for cheeky reductions on the screen price, you might be surprised.

I had a RAC inspection done on the car before I bought it. Was impressed with the detail they went in to with the inspection and there was nothing found that would give reason not to buy the car.

I have bought two cars from them, had one or two problems with the first WRX which they promptly sorted out and when my finances unexpectedly improved they did me a great deal on my current STI which I am very happy with. As for test drives, if you ring beforehand they will usually have the car outside ready for a testdrive when you arrive. Like Daz1121 I dealt with Matt and found him to be a decent bloke. As someone else said try Prosport in Stockport if you want the car checking over I wouldn't let anybody else touch my car!
