View Full Version : AKIRA'S NEW STEAD!!!!!
Akira 15 August 2000, 22:22 Well guys R41 GAC has gone and left me for another bloke! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif She used to be so gorgeous but let herself go a bit lately. All her BIG attributes went all small and I began to detest giving her a good thrashing! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL
Joking aside, i part exchanged her today for a Toyota MR2 T-Bar in Goodwood Green. Just to make you all jealous (fat chance of that http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) it's got leather, air-con and of course the removable roof for pose value. It's also a MY98 Facelift model, so it looks mini Ferrari like. The performance is naff to say the least but you can hang the tail out when provoked ....... and it doesn't seem to SPIN! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL
I will only have it for approx. 6-8 months before getting myself re-aquainted with another Scooby supermodel. My Mum wants the MR2 when I sell so that makes life nice and easy. If any of you are interested, I got £13,100 part ex and the MR2 was £13,995 with 26,000 miles, 1 lady owner. I didn't think the deal was too bad, although I had to travel to Gloucester to get it sorted.
Anyway, just thought i'd let y'all know. Please don't all ignor me now http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif, you don't get rid of AKIRA that easily! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Cya all soon
Chris
CharlieWhiskey 15 August 2000, 22:37 Glad to here you got something sorted Chris.
At least an MR2 is not TOO embarassing http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif
As long as you can stand all those 'Hairdresser' jokes! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
See you in Wales?, don't forget your wellies! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Chris
jase cooper 15 August 2000, 23:12 Puff http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Ian Cook 16 August 2000, 00:12 Guy at work has an MR2 GTS Turbo, 240BHP to the rear wheels, hmmmm, entertaining is not the right word for it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Paul Habgood 16 August 2000, 00:48 hope you enjoy the MR2 - still going to come along to midlands meets? - Must try to make sure that it isn't out in the country as i would not want you to flatten any hedges on the way!!! (ex-MR2 driver!)
I have a good contact for cheap genuine spares in the Loughborough area if this is of help.
igratton 16 August 2000, 09:18 Well done Chris.
I bet it was a real shame to see her go...but you are right...she as definately stopped looking as nice recently...(I can't imagine where all the bits went http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.
Your MR-2 will be reliable...and then worth something when you've finished with it (sounds like you've already found a buyer).
So all you need now is...
Phat HKS Single exit exhaust conversion
18" Wheels
Induction Kit
and you'll be happy (well kind of).
See you soon
Ian.
firefox 16 August 2000, 11:48 an MR2 ?

IWatkins 16 August 2000, 12:26 Akira,
Welcome to the enlightenment of Toyota ownership http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
What, you mean it ain't a turbo ? Lightweight, girlie and as Jase so perfectly summed up, puff !! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Seriously, if you need tuning help (and I know you will not be able to leave it alone), let me know.
At least you bought a car to keep up your title of Spin King http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif, watch those wet roundabouts.
Cheers
Ian
Akira 16 August 2000, 14:22 Alright, Alright, calm down children! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
You have said enough to provoke a response.
Chris,
"Going anywhere nice for your holiday's sir?"
"Oh Wales, how lovely. Would you like a coffee?" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif LOL.
Jase,
Nah mate it's Goodwood, not Dragon Green! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Watto,
Turbo Shmurbo! Go too fast with the top off and it messes with your hair mate! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Thanks for the offer of advice re. tuning, however, I don't think that I will be going down that route with this one. The whole object of the excersise is to save some dollar whilst bying a new salon, err I mean HOME! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
IanG,
Thanks for your vote of confidence! I managed to scrape together near on £1000 from the bit's and pieces. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif cheers for your charitable donation matey.
J,
Who is your God? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL
Ian and Paul,
The Turbo version was tempting but for a short ownership stint and easy re-sale, the UK Version was the one. Grin factor 2 compared to Scooby 8 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif. It's like going cold turkey!!!!
I will still be about at the meets etc. Got to decide which vintage of STi to buy next. Can't believe i'm already looking towards my next car having owned the MR2 all of 1 Day! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Anyway, sun is out, time for the top to come off!
Cheers
Chris
schuey 17 August 2000, 19:30 I used ti have a MR2 T-Bar, then I bought the Scoob.
Lots of rear end action.
Hope their still not fitting Yokohama AO22s as the standard tyre, their crap.
I changed to A509s and A520s, can't remember which were on the back. A lot more grip so it takes a bit more speed/revs to get the back end out.
Great with roof off for posing but its just got no go. I mean 0-60 in 8 secs, a decent hot hatch will do that.
chrisp 17 August 2000, 20:30 Ex- R41 GAC parts yep a know where a few are http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.
I hope you enjoy the MR2 should be a change from the scooby and a bit quieter http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.
Just think of it as a breather to get ready for the STi.
cheers
chrisp
