View Full Version : Yet more boiler problems (combi)

Hi

I have a combi boiler, it's a Vokera 24/96 RSE Flowmatic. In theory it should do the central heating and hot water on demand. It can work fine for a few hours / days then just throws it's toys out! It will not produce any heat, no heating, no hot water and when this happens the pump runs continuously. If I switch the whole thing off, wait a minute and then switch it back on, it's works without any problems, for a while!

Any ideas? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/images/smilies/ponder2.gif

I should add, it's been doing this for weeks now but in the meantime I changed the mechanical timer and stat for a wireless digital gizmo, the fault is the same regardless. :)

Cheers!

Try turning the boiler stats down so they are set no more than 2/3. Could be the boiler is overheating, see if this resolves the problem if not report back!

I have my trusty assistant at home, the heating stat dial goes to 9, it was on 7 so we've set it to 5.5. Seemingly the boiler is now constantly firing up and turning off again, it stays lit for 10 seconds or so...is this good or bad? :Suspiciou

I think the 10 seconds thing is ok, seemingly after reading the manual, it's low flame.

The boiler packed up again this morning after I'd had a shower, is it worth turning the hot water stat down too? :) It used to work fine with both stats maxed out.

Sorry Bob i've not had much access to Scoobynet last couple of days.

Yes definately turn both down they shouldn't be maxed out, let me know if this makes any difference. It's been a while since I've come accross a Flowmatic!

Thanks Matt

Both stats have been turned down since yesterday afternoon, Sal and I have both had showers and the boiler hasn't packed up, yet!

I've also sussed how to turn the optimum start off on the new timer so it didn't fire at 4AM again! :D
