I have bought a 1900 York sandstone (yellow) terrace house. In 1986 the previous owner removed the two storey bay and replaced it with a flat fronted house with a strip of cladding down the middle (as seen on Jack and Vera's house in Coronation Street). I want to know how I get rid of it because underneath the cladding there is cheaper red brick which would look stupid if I simply removed the cladding. Also, any ideas of how expensive it is. Someone mentioned that cladding is VERY difficult to remove - please give me some good news. Cheers.

I want to either re-install the two storey yellow sandstone bay or replace the red bricks that are under the cladding with yellow original bricks. Obviously, it's going to be an expensive job but I was wondering if anyone knew how expensive? I need to put double glazing in the front of the house anyway, which is a big job that involves removing bricks so could I do it all at once? But thanks for the response, at least I know I can get the cladding off.

To re-install bays > dig a strip footing for dwarf wall , build dwarf wall to about 4ft, then above that fix a timber frame to roof hight , use code 5 lead for flat roof, clad outside in plastic cladding , or wire it then render, inside plasterboard and skim, fix your new pvc windows in your bays , rads ect !!! easy ???? £7,000 (ishh)

What about just getting rid of the cladding and replacing the reds bricks with sandstone bricks? Also replacing the two single glazed windows (one bay and one flat) with PVC type ones? Again, thanks for the response.
