how do i enhance colours of a section in photoshop?

i have a photo of a sunset and want to enhance the colours.

You could use the curves tool and just drag the middle section gently upwards (or downwards depending on what way you have it set up) or you could use Hue/Saturation to increase the saturation or you could also use the colour balance option to tweak the colours.

Nice one! Could do with a little sharpening to bring out the details in the leaves -- or is it my eyesight (again)? :)

To just enhance the colours in a certain area of the picture (in your case, the middle), use the rectangular marquee tool to select the desired area, feather the selection (Select > Feather) by about 100-150 pixels, and then adjust levels or increase saturation.

This works a treat, and avoids altering the rest of the picture :)
