View Full Version : Alton Towers Weekend :-)
chuckster 14 June 2001, 09:09 Right, anyone up for some Midlands shenanigans? I was thinking about going up either mid-july or mid-august. Saturday we'd drive up and probably do some peak district twisties, staying near the park so we could get in early Sunday and ride till we puke http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif .
Whadda you reckon folks?
It seemed a good idea when we talked about it last month http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
If we get a decent group I'll call Alton Towers to talk abt discounts and parking http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Cheers
Chuck
Most definitely up for this - would prefer mid-August if poss (away July), but whatever the people decide... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

ChrisB 14 June 2001, 11:13 Don't forget to stop in for a coffee (hmm, more like beer I expect! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif) on the way past folks.
Actually, I haven't been to Alton Towers for ages - why is it you don't go to the good places right on your doorstep? Probably russle up a few of the Staffs folks to come along for some fun if you want.

DominicA 16 June 2001, 10:51 Sounds like we may be able to have a small wager on this, how about - you all choose a ride to go on and put your money where your BIG MOUTHS are and if i'm not ill then I keep all your cash???

chuckster 18 June 2001, 08:01 Ok, will be in touch with AT this week and try n track down some local B&B's.
I think Nicki wants the Chocolate suite at AT's hotel though. Hmmmmmmm If we book that for Dom I'm sure the chowder will fly the next morning http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif , perhaps and expensive way to wina bet though....

Adam M 19 June 2001, 10:13 Chuck, I always stay at the marriot in the centre of leeds.
It is a great hotel, and executive rooms can be had for £53 including breakfast for a double room at weekends.

Scoobychick 20 June 2001, 09:20 Ditto what Kim said.....I shudder at the mere thought of camping http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Andy Tang 24 June 2001, 23:58 Just a warning guys!
I was there this Saturday, and it was heaving!
The Oblivion and the Nemesis had queues over an hour and half. Oblivion broken down three times, with people still on the ride at various points.
I went on 5 rides over the whole day! And that includes the Monorail from the car park!
I would think twice before going on a weekend again!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
The teacups are tops though!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Andy
chuckster 25 June 2001, 07:40 Well Andy, you've had time for at least 1 thought, think again and then add your name to this list! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
