Cheers Colin Plan before you start where your cuts will be etc. Make sure you hammer (with the QS block) the correct edge of the board. Take you time and don't drop any tools on it! Keep an old piece of carpet for any further DIY to put down to prevent damage when you inevitable drop screwdrivers etc.! Make sure you do leave the 10mm gap round the edges and I prefer fitting new skirting after rather than using the beading. I've done two bedrooms, lounge, dining and hall with Quickstep. Have also just done the office in QS800 Eligna which was just as easy to put down but much easier to chip the edges but does what I want in there. I used the QS Unisound flooring underneath which I found good too, though whether it actually absorbs more sound than other underlays I couldnt say. I took the skirtings off in all the rooms which means its a PITA to redo the skirtings but the effect is much better than using quadrant. My main tip would be to try to work out the best pattern / lengths to give the minimum wastage. I was very lucky as my lounge and office rooms are both 3.5 lengths long exactly (well, within 5mm anyway) and almost square so by using a double pattern I had very little wastage. I used a cheap tablesaw to do the cuts and it was quick and easy once you got into a rhythm. Ive dropped alsorts on it including screw drivers etc and not made a mark :) I covered the front room, dining room and hallway with it, took me a couple of days to get round to finishing it. Very pleased with the finish too :) http://www.rtoc.org/library/file.asp?id=19410 http://www.rtoc.org/library/file.asp?id=19411 the floor is much cleaner than that, I was just too eager to take a picture rather than clean up...lol wasnt to much of a job really, fitted the skirting board after too to get a better finish :) paulr 23 November 2005, 16:45 http://www.quick-step.com/zoom.aspx?material=400422&group=PLPE95 thats the stuff we used, quality. Removing the skirting gives a much better finish. My only tip is to make sure you do a good job of replacing the skirting, get decent straight skirting boards and make a good job of cutting the mitres. It would be a shame to lay a good floor and spoil it by poor skirting. alistair 23 November 2005, 18:35 I did mine at the weekend - Natural Oak Perspective 4 - it looks fantastic :) I also bought the matching clip on skirting as I think beading looks crap. So off came the skirting, out went the carpet, down went the underlay, down went the floor, then out came the skirting and doh ! The skirting clips fasten to the floor and need to be attached before it's laid !!! Now I've got to stick the bloody stuff to the wall :( davegtt 24 November 2005, 11:14 LMFAO.... Unlucky or what, teach you to read the instructions first ;) dont worry Im one for chucking them away too and getting stuck in :D Mick 28 November 2005, 00:25 Good stuff, nice finish... esp the textured look, single plank per tile stuff. Mick :D 666pug 11 December 2005, 13:52 dont use the cheap crappy stuff!! pay that little bit more an it goes down 10 times easier!!!!:thumb: |
