Hi all

The long wait for my Scoobie turbo is finally over so I thought I had better register!!!!

As I am completely new to the scene, I was wondering if there are any regular meets in Essex where I can meet up with other owners. I see that certain areas have regular meets (Fleet, Enfield etc), so are there any in Essex?

PS I still can't get the grin off my face since collection day!!!!!!!!!

OK

If there is enough people up for it (I hope there is!!!), how about a meet on the 2 or 3 Sep or if thats too soon the 23 or 24 Sep?

Any suggestions for venues?

Cheers

Burgers

mine's a green MY99, how about you?

If a little meet was to be organised, would it be better at weekends or an evening during the week? I'd probably go for a weekday, but not too fussed.

As for pubs, probably need one with a decent sized car park too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif .

Chuckster,

As you are the man with kids do you know of any venues that would keep the kids entertained, and also your two children http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I'm not too sure of the pubs in my area as I have not been in any of them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif , drinking too much in London so no need to when I'm at home http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

The only pub that immediately springs to mind as having kiddy entertainment is the Greene King one, can't remember the name doh!, on the A130 going towards Chelmsford - the one with the pink, yes PINK http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif , helicopter in the back garden and from memory some climbing frames etc.

Any further sugestions peeps

Yex

PS: how do you get away with "scooby widow" weekends - sounds great to me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Hiya folks. Essex has loads of scoobs but few formal meets http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif , I don't know why.
However, everyday is a mini-meet at Scoobysport! The only problem is you usually end up spending money http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif or http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif .

Hello everyone

I'm in Essex too. I can't understand why there are never any meets here either. Perhaps we should organise one?

Hi there

I'm new to all this too, only registered a couple of days ago. I'm hoping to get along to the Clang-N-Ball run on Sunday, but a local Essex meet sounds great.

I live near Basildon, anyone else near here?

Cheers

Nico

Nico

I'm a stones throw away from Basildon!!!

Chances are I may have seen you about! What colour/model is your Scoob?

cheers

I'm about 3 miles from Basildon, which is not far enough from ScoobySport http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif , going towards Lakeside.

Anyone organising a meet locally will certainly get a visit from me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Seems it would be rude not to now, I need to see Yex's new wheels! (In the american sense - meaning car, d'oh!)
I also live within 20 mins of scoobysport, and I know of a few others round there too!
I'd have to vote for a family friendly pub though. Kids 'n wife have suffered enough 'Scooby widow' weekends recently. *shame*

The Greyhound in Childerditch (nr Brentwood) has been the venue for the last couple of meets.

It pissed down with rain at the last one, which put a bit of a dampner on things.

Would like to sort out an Essex / Suffolk drive similar to south coast ones, but never seem to have time at the moment. Still, can see what I can sort out.

BTW: I think the Greene King pub is the Dick Turpin.

I thought the Dick Turpin is on the A127?

I'd be up for the 23/24 sep. I know a pub on top of Langdon Hills (Between Basildon and Horndon on the hill). Very busy at weekends, so would need to give them notice, but has big carpark, adequate food and a big ball pit for the kids http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif .
Will recce the place tonight. Off for a mini meet at Lakeside tonite - to watch X-men(!), and will swing by this place on way through.

This would'nt be the Crown by any chance?

If it is, top venue - loads of parking, good food plus you've got Westleigh Heights next door and a large grassed carpark running alongside Dry Street.

Dunno it's name, but it virtually backs onto a big park-like place - ideal for dog walkin, ball games and do-nuts! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Sorry, I'm another newbie so add yet another Essex Boy to the roster!!!!
I'm going to S of France in the Scoobie from early September, but would up for a meet on the 23rd/24th Sept.
The HALFWAY HOUSE on the A127 has a large Car Park, with a specially split section of car park at the back. I am sure with some pre-warning of our attendance that the 1/2WAY house would shut it off for a scoobies only meet.
The Pub is also easily accessible from the A127 Slip Road (Brentwood turnoff). There is also a rear entry for all you Brentwood boys..(no offence intended!).
Also has a kids playground to boot...

I think it is The Crown. Would be a good place to meet as the road up from my part of the world is long, twisty and generally fun http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I won't be around 23/24 weekend as playing golf in south of Spain http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif but any other weekend would be fine - or even an impromptu invasion of ScoobySport on a Saturday as Pete has now installed on-line PC's and a Playstation http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Only problemn would be the temptation to have some goodies fitted whilst there http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Any pub would be fine for me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif .

Not sure about the w/ends mentioned though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif . 2nd/3rd is girlfriend's birthday so suppose should spend it with her http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif , 23/24 might be going to a wedding.

How about either ones in between? Or an impromptu one as Yex suggests?

I cant make any other weekend day during September, but maybe a weekday if nothing happens on the 23/24 (although I would prefer either of these dates)

Well, 23/4 looking poor. Will have to look at doing a formal meet, with SIDC sending flyers, sometime in October. We should have a local group contact by then anyway, according to 'True Grip'.
So now we are looking at random meets in the meantime.
Thieves please look away now http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif :
There's a good chance I'll drop by Scoobysport Saturday morning, gotta see a man about an engine transplant. (Not mine thank goodness http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )
James, how about we meet up in Belgium on Sunday? LOL
Cheers

Doh.... Ernie, youre right, Dick Turpin is on A127... just before A130 turn off.

Halfway House is used by RS boys for a regular meet Tuesday nights, so shouldnt be a problem getting in there.

Can't remember what it's called but I'm sure someone does...

There is a "Country Pub" very near Eagle Way (Ford HQ) in Brentwood that has a large car park & also a Go-Karting Track http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Would seem like an obvious location...

OK

We have now got plenty of venues to choose from, how about we try to agree on a date and get an idea of numbers?

Rather than batting dates around for ever more, I have a proposal for you.

Im prepared to organise an Essex meet (I did the last one) and some kind of drive.

The date would be the end of October to give SIDC a chance to snail mail people.

How are people fixed? What are your thoughts?

Im starting a
