Pembrey 21st May
I'm planning a convoy down to Pembrey to watch the SIDC Clubman's outing on the track. I'll be leaving Llandysul at approx. 9:30AM and heading down via Carmarthen to Pembrey.
If anyone wants to meet up with us (probably there will be 3 or 4 cars) then drop me a mail or call me on 07970 268760.
Gethin.

Gethin, just found out from Pete that this meeting has been cancelled, due to lack of numbers.... I am amazed. Only 18 people signed up for it and they needed at least 40. They had even laid on child minders for the hotel Saturday night, and bouncy castles at the circuit. I still cannot believe a SIDC trackday cancelled through lack of numbers. Big shame.

Sorry Gethin but the event has been cancelled. The event was organised to attract for family members, as a result of some letters that the club received.
Whilst some of the people who do every SIDC event were going to bring their families none of the complainers booked (that's what we get for listening to small minorities) and we did not attract the people who treat events as an escape from family duties.
We are all very disappointed as a lot of time and effort had been put into this one, such as organising creche facilities for Saturday night, bouncy castle for Sunday and planning the treasure hunt etc.
As the events that currently happen are well attended (pub meets etc) and track days are always over subscribed we will be concentrating on these formats for the mean time.
I may organise some more 12 car or treasure hunt/navigation type events for later in the year, but will ask for interest nearer the time.

Although I would not have been able to attend anyway I think if more people had been better informed maybe more would have shown an interest. I think many people including myself did not know it was going to be a family friendly event.
Cheers
Chip.

I was one of those booked on this event, this was to be my first SIDC event and I was looking forward to it.
It took some time to convince my wife to join me - we were not aware it was meant to be 'family friendly' either - had we known this it wouldn't have taken so much convincing.
Also surprised to hear that there were insufficient numbers as when I enquired some 6-8 weeks prior to the event I was advised there were only 2 or 3 places left and to get my cheque off quickly!

The LTR Pembrey day was also cancelled - I was given to understand that is was troubles with the administrators of the track and not deficient numbers which was causing the problems. Anyway, spilt milk and crying afterwards springs to mind. If anyone wants to organise a family/fun oriented weekend then maybe we should look at booking a commercially run event independently, such as one of RMA's day's, or one of Donington's own days. That way there isn't any financial risk to any individual. Only prob with Donington is they don't have any weekend dates left
, but would be fun to have an Alton Towers day Sunday and Donington Monday!
Cheers,
Charles

I was going to attend the weekend with
my girlfriend and another friend and we are all disappointed. It was to be my first track day.
I am surprised that only 18 people signed up. Although gauging demand for an event (especially one with a different format) will always be hard.
Should I have received a cancellation notice
by snail-mail?
The events calendar is a little sparse for the rest of the year, unless I can get up to Scotland for one of John Stewarts Knockhill days (unlikely). Does anyone recommend the
LTR Cadwell day (1/6) for a track-virgin?
I just bought crash helmets at the weekend which I have been wearing around the house (I kid you not). I was looking forward to it that much.
Sorry for repeating more or less what has already been said. Kind of a "me too" post.

Pete said we should have received a letter a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't get one either. I was told by the guy from Tyres Northampton at Snetterton on Sunday when I told him I was going. Stef then confirmed it. I rang Pete for something else on Monday and he officially confirmed it.
I was one of those booked on this event, this was to be my first SIDC event too. I received a 'phone call from Dick Grimes about 2-3 weeks ago to say that it was cancelled, but I'm still waiting for my cheque to be returned.

I am still waiting for the return of my cheque as well, i found out with a phone call only last tuesday. This leaves track days very bare- Donington in march, Cadwell Park ( difficult to get to from S East) Pembrey cancelled, nothing else planned . Does anyone know of any other SIDC track days planned apart from Knockhill ones? There seems to be no events booked
