Default Another thanks to WRC

I’d like to extend a huge thanks to Allan, Chris and their team at WRC Technologies in Silverstone. My STi 8 has been completely transformed with the introduction of their WRC330 package boosting peak power to 344.9bhp and a massive 360ftlb of torque kicking you back at 3750 rpm.

Will be visiting shortly for some upgrades to the brakes and suspension!

A '53 plate Type-UK. The car made standard 265.1bhp on arrival, I was amazed as Chris when he uploaded the map and it made 337bhp first off, some tweaks later and it was pulling 344.9, can't complain!

Chris commented that my car was the first to respond this well to the 330 map.

It peaks at 1.5 bar but runs to a steadily down to 1.2 bar as the revs build.

I have Defi guages in mine and the boost registered up to 1.5 before the WRC tickling, the measurement on the Defi guages escapes me for the moment but 1.5 on the Defi equates to about 1.2 bar.

The power is unreal, it torque steers like no other now Looks like the fuel economy has improved 15-20% which isn't to be sniffed at in the current climate. Pulls hard all the way now to 6500/7000, 3rd and 4th gear are now truly lethal and I dain't dare explore the depths of 5th and 6th.

I've played with an M3 and an S3 so far, no contest. The exhaust note is something else, so they shall now he ain't in standard trim

From looking at ECUTEK Delta Dash etc (datalogging). Also a SECS monitor (which reads what the ECU is seeing) will show up differences.

Regards,
Shaun.

If your car is setup correctly in the first instance (by whoever is doing your tuning), you wont have to worry about inaccuracies in boost pressures displayed.

It obviously depends on what level of tune you are moving to. If you are literally talking about a remap on an otherwise standard JDM STi Newage, then I think only on the Spec C would you get away with not requiring an uprated fuel pump (but again this TOTALLY depends on the target figures for the remap).

Best to check with whoever is doing your remapping tbh.

Regards,
Shaun.

Are you sure about that Shaun, Litchfields map all their jdm sti's without changing the fuel pump according to the blurb I got off Iain. Bob mapped mine for uk fuel without changing the pump. I thought it was only necessary for big bhp mods.

Yes Bob mapped mine. Not been near a rolling road yet but Bob thought my car was good for about 310 bhp running on Esso super. If I had used Optimax he could have set a bit more advance and hence liberate a bit more power but no Shell stations near enough for me.

Default Fuel pumps

On a new age car of any origin, if all you are doing is a remap, then an uprated fuel pump is more for safety/peace of mind. It is not usually required but is a good safety net.
However if you have a good freeflowing aftermarket exhaust fitted and want optimum performance, then an uprated pump is a must. This is to ensure healthy fuel supply under all conditions.

Cheers

Allan
