my wrx only has one cooling fan shouldnt they have two?? also never actually seen it come on altho the car has never overheated it sits bout halfway during driving but can go up to threee quarters if sitting in traffic, any ideas how to check fan or what it could be if not working. many thanks in advance

I'm sure that connecting the diagnostic ( green ) connectors under the dash should cycle through testing various things in the engine bay - fans included. Try a search.. should throw up the details on how to do it.

I thought it was one fan for cars without aircon, two for cars with aircon?

check your fuse if you're worried, fans do tend to blow fuses alot
