Bought Jap import STI, owned for 3 weeks, motor went bang thanks to a failed lamda (wondered why it did 12mpg). Stuck new motor at hefty expense in car. Happy.
Now, I've got the old lump left, which I'm rebuilding with the help of a South African tuner I know thru a mate - it's off to Cape Town on a banana boat next week.
Question is, what to do with the rebuilt lump upon its return? It's a version 5 and will come back all ported, polished and gas-flowed, with billetted bits and probably around 340bhp with the right map. Expecting to see it again around Crimbo but need something to bolt it into.
Do I: a) flog it? b) stick it back in my car and flog the motor currently in it? c) put it in a kitcar?
I wanna do c).
My mates, who build kit cars, wanna do c), but does anyone have real experience of the pitfalls we're likely to meet?

What sort of kit car did you have in mind? Surely far too wide for a 7 type. Perhaps an STi powered Beetle-based beach buggy?

 

Apparently, one went into a modded Luego chassis once but that's like squeezing a gallon into a pint jug, so I'm thinking more road-legal sand buggy. Any suggestions welcome.........

 

Anything Beetle based would be good there is a guy on Imprezasport.net with a porsche spider rep but hes looking at more of a N/A for cooling. There is always an Eagle as i believe these are beetle based those are some pretty outlandish cars.

I'm currently building up a beetle cabrio with a WRX RA engine. My previous project was a Porsche 356 speedster replica with My98 turbo engine, went like stink!
