Hi
Just fitted an Alpine 9843 into my MY02 WRX replacing the original double din unit. I've used the wiring adapter loom but I can't get the unit to function. Will the unit work with this setup or do I need to run a seperate power cable from the battery?
Not really knowing anything about electrics any help would be appreciated. I've used a voltage detector to detect power on the ignition lead (red) but I don't get anything on the battery lead from the loom (don't know if this is correct or not).
Sorry for the stupid questions!
Cheers
Simon.

You should have permanent =12v on the yellow and ignition controlled on the red, also check the earth on the black wire. If you do not have both lives check for blown fuses first

Are these a standard fuse? If not where can I get one?
Thanks

Just as an update I've just checked the ISO harness adapter that was sold to me. Its a Maystar PX653 which is for Imprezas 93> however the wiring appears to be in the wrong places and the connection for the battery is not there. What a load of crap and a complete waste of yesterday trying to figure out what was wrong.
The car was originally booked in with a company that "specialise" in fitting ICE however firstly they informed me that the CD would not fit and they would have to cut the dash trim. I said no to this, took it home and found that the plastic trim came off the front of the Alpine unit and then everything fitted nicely. They were also the ones who sold me this lead. Probably best to avoid them in the future. I've just bought an autoleads ISO adapter so hopefully everything should be good when it arrives.
Have you got the manual for the HU? It may well be it has a separate power lead, i.e. doesn't use the one in the wiring adaptor.

That's the manual. The power lead (yellow) needs to be connected to the plug block (presumably also a yellow wire; should have bullet connectors so you can plug it in). Page 25 shows the connectors...
I think the problem lies with the ISO adapter unit. The wiring on the female end of the adapter doesn't seem to tally up with the wiring on the original male end. I've used this diagram to identify the wiring:
http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/modifications/misc/wiring/radiowrx.html
For instance wire 11 on the adapter is the battery cable and wire 6 is missing completely - therefore no power assuming the above diagram is correct (to confirm I have identified that wire 6 on the original block is live. The speaker configurations are completely wrong as well!
I see you've already ordered a replacement, but it should be possible to move the adaptor connector 'pins' around in the block; they're normally held in by a little metal tab (part of the contact itself) which can be pushed in with a tiny screwdriver to allow the wire and contact to be removed.
Probably worth waiting for the new one though... :)
