7 day shop are £289, and not answering my mails to let me know when they'll have some.
Jessops haven't got any & still want £400.

Any ideas who has them in stk for c.£300 ?

Superb.... 20 mins away too - just got to wait until 9 to see if they've got any in stk!
Would a skylight filter be Ok for general use / protection ?

Thks,

Using a skylight filter is pretty standard practise, so I don't see why you shouldn't.

I don't, but people think I'm nuts.

Been looking myself - but that link leads to a price of
£354.99
unless I am missing something?

I use uv filters on all my lenses (never take them off). Doesn't seem to affect the photo at all and if nothing else, it helps protect the glass from dust, scratches, accidents etc (a filter is a lot cheaper to replace than a lens).

Odd, it was £329.99 as shown on my home PC this morning, but now I'm at work it says £354.99 for me too. Maybe one page is in an out-of-date cache somewhere, or the buggers put the price up this morning? Best call them to check.

Ordered it this morning at £330 :D & was told "it's the last one & the prices are about to go up" which I dismissed as a ploy not to knock anymore off, looks like it was the truth. (There seems to v limited stock, none at Jessops, 7dayshop etc. which has probably driven the price up.)
Bought a skylight filter to protect it.
Thks for pointing me in the right direction, just got to learn how to use it now !

Looks like this might be considered the replacement for it - more expensive but more compact.

I've just got the superb Canon L 70-210mm F4 Lens for £329!!

Personally, cameras are for taking pictures, for the same price you will get pin sharp quality shots!

Deffo a decent bargain Pete, L glass would be a bit wasted on me, I'm still looking to find out where I put film in my 300D.

That doesn't necessarily stop everyone going the 'L' route ;)

:D :D :D

You put it in the back, like always - only those clever people at Canon have put a few screws to undo first (helps to keep the light off the film I guess?)

Anyway, these films last forever these days, don't they??

I wouldn't have bought L Glass, but for the price being £329, I would be daft not to?! I must say, though, quality costs - and this L Glass IS quality.

It's obvious now you mention it, they use screws to ensure it stays waterproof, I'll have to test it & my new lens in the bath later.

What do you need L glass for ? Surely any pic you look at has nice soft edges........given your cataracts :D
