View Full Version : Alonso = ameteur
Dave Hughes 12 June 2005, 21:26 Sorry guys, but today's performance was nothing short of ameteur from Fernando, better to let Kimi / Mony past and take home 6 points than bin it into the wall an take home fa.
i race karts and i know better than that !!

SlimJ_2005 12 June 2005, 22:59 So you've never made a mistake racing karts then...... :Whatever_
Montoya came out the pits on a red light yet you don't call him an amateur? A racing driver should no the rules....
Anyway, it's the mistakes that make things interesting.:)

Dave HugheesOf course its so easy.
Chris L 13 June 2005, 08:16 Anyone who races at that level is far from amateur and that fact that he has won 4 races this season, tends to suggest he knows what he is doing. I'm sure that Mr Alonso is perfectly aware it isn't a great idea to smack the wall, but that doesn't always stop it happening (go and ask Button!). At least he was up there challenging for the race win, some of the driving I spotted really was comical - how many times did Webber run wide on the hairpin for instance?
Dave Hughes 13 June 2005, 09:31 Sorry guys was a bit drunk when I posted the original message and was perhaps a little harsh. :Whatever_
Fernando was not on the best of form was he... getting flustered behind Fisi and then hitting the wall like that, not the sort of thing you would expect from a potential WDC.
I think he had to consider the championship and not just the race yesterday, but hey, he's done us all a favour and opened up the WDC no end :thumb: Nice one Fernando :thumb:
Agreed, Webber was amusing, he's been a real dissapointment for me this year, I was expecting great things especially after 2003 season with Jaguar when he was unreal. In fairness to him I think Nick has proven himself to be a very quick teammate.
Monty's red mist / red light incident made me chuckle....what was he / the team thinking, you can never leave the pits and end up in the snake of cars behind the safety car, they should have told Monty or held him or something.....a rare mistake from the Maclaren team.
What the hell happened to JB on the start line, looked like he and MS were in reverse !!
A great and entertaining race in my opinion, this years rules may not be liked by everyone, but they are providing a good seasons racing so far.
I dont think Ferrari should get too excited about their pace yesterday, they were fast at Imola too and the two tracks are V similar, but I don't expect to see a similar performance next weekend at Indy. We shall see.....

Im sorry to say I think FW got far too emotional in choosing Webbo to drive for him. He just wishes he was the new Alan Jones. And on the basis of is career to date. He clearly isnt. 1 podium!

They make lots of mistakes. And although I like Ron (regardless of the way his minions treated me) I wish he hadnt gone on about "Punishment not fitting the crime" :D

Same old RD - moan moan moan

Shuey didnt hit the wall when he was a potential WDC...... ermm, yes he did, in the most important race of the season/his career to date (1994 Australia mean anything to you?).
I guess hitting the wall could be a sign of greatness after all. :D

Unlikely. Didnt Jacques "F***ing" Villeneuve hit the wall once ;)
johnfelstead 16 June 2005, 22:27 yep, he was WDC too. ;)
vindaloo 17 June 2005, 00:34 Didn't Schumacher (sp) hit the wall the other year and break his leg after fscking up a chicane. Was it in fact this particular chicane? Seemed familiar...
johnfelstead 17 June 2005, 00:40 Shuey has been in that wall, but he broke his leg at silverstone at the end of the hanger straight.
Milamber 17 June 2005, 13:44 Shuey has been in that wall, but he broke his leg at silverstone at the end of the hanger straight.
That was a shame wasn't it :norty:
Good to see Irvine capitalise on being number 1 for a while, not.

Hakinen did too in Australia.
Mansell did on a number of occasions
And lets not forget Senna did it once

Then he threw the Mother of all sickies. How many weeks off for a broken leg? How many would your current employer allow.
And besides most MotoGP riders will just strap up a broken wrist and ride regardless.
Oh and ref : JV did you see that Patrick was quoted as saying he made more of that championship than he needed too :D

Oh and ref : JV did you see that Patrick was quoted as saying he made more of that championship than he needed too :DHe did want to race but you have to be able to get out of the car in i think 7 secs and be able to jump up and down on each leg a number of times.
