The drain from the shower was emptying slowly so I poured in some caustic soda crystals and then some hot water and left for work.
The drain outlet in the shower tray is completly blocked now with concrete-like , solid caustic soda. If I pour boiling water on will this reactivate it to clear it or is the only answer to get to the pipework and replace with new ?

Cheers

I'd stay with the water: pouring an acid on a powerful alkali generally falls into the category of "****ing stupid". The water alone should work, but it may take a while.

Sorted -- eventually !

I had to resort to removing the u bend pipe and then running it under the hot water tap for a good 10 min to dissolve all the solid soda.

Thanks for the advice.

In future dissolve the caustic soda in water before putting it into your shower drain.
