Whose up for this then :-

Provisional date 30th-31st July

Saturday 30th:-

Meet Saturday morning (6am) kiddy/dudley area
Set off on predetermined route into and around Wales (route will be given out on the morning for obvious reasons).
Stop off for lunch
More WR fun
set up C (camp) at predetermined booked campsite, big BBQ and a few cheeky beers ;) :thumb:
Sunday 31st:-

Early(ish) breaky
lots of WR fun
Lunch
WR fun and head back to the midlands
I'll sort the route out and put it in the SAT nav and sort some maps out for the rest of you. I'll also sort out a campsite and ensure there is enough room for us all. But if anyone wants to volunteer some help i'd gladlt accept it, especailly if you know the roads well over that way, 'cause i don't ;)#

I wouldnt mind joining in on this could be eventfull.

For the route you may want to look at the Epynt stage for WRGB. Just north of Llandovery is the entrance to the MOD land which has a public road running through it. Its an excellent drive and usually open at the weekends part of the Deers Leap section of the rally.

MOD do have speed traps but very rarely. I was up there last weekend at the Mutiny rally it was great.

I may have to put the weekend back, as very short on spare time at the moment to get things sorted, plus the mrs is thinking about going on holiday the week after, but will do it, promise ;)

I'm hoping that I'll be able to join you. My folks are visiting sometime in July but not sure when yet. Sounds like the date may yet change anyway.

If you want help with maps / campsite I have Memory Map for my PC with every OS map 1:50,000 (Landranger) for the U.K., useful for plotting some routes and I can upload them into my PDA/GPS + I have a big book produced by the camping club of G.B. listing most camp sites in the U.K.

That would be fantastic!!!! I have memory map for the Lakedistrict, but not Wales! What PDA software do you run with it?? I have tomton, just wondered if it was compatable.

Hope you can join us!!!!

Austin,

Memory Map has its own in built PDA software for PocketPC. You can install it from Memory Map on the PC, with the PDA in the cradle it's in the PDA > Install Pocket Navigator... menu. It's mainly useful for outdoor pursuits like walking / mountain biking. That said I have used it on odd occasions for drives, obviously a lot more useful for B road blasts as you decide the route whereas something like TomTom would decide it for you. There isn't any turn left/right direction capbability with it, but you do have the OS map on the screen in front of you with your position so it's fairly obvious if you're going the wrong way.

Cheers,

Graz

I use Memory Map extensively :thumb: I record all my recce runs on it and use it on the PC to plan the best roads to use :D

Just avoid the narrow yellow ones on the 1:50,000 maps and you'll be fine.

If you wanna reduce the workload Austen, you can always come with us ;)
