Last room (well hallway) in the house to have the wallpaper removed... sugar soaped it all (ok, gf did :)) and washed it down. rollered on some "one coat" emulsion. Looked good till it dried when it all "crazed" a bit like when a river bed dries out...

Swore a bit (well a lot really :() and then used a PVA solution to seal all the walls before recoating again... same problem, though maybe not as bad...

Anyone come across this...? Getting p*ssed off with it now as it's dragging on and have better things to do (like de-cating the Scoob and getting the gf's Pug engine rebuilt)...

Suggestions welcome...

We had exactly the same problem in a room in our old house. The only solution we could come up with was to use lining paper and then paint on the top of that.

Don't really want to go that route if I can help it.... going to sand it down over the weekend and try once more - if that doesn't work we might try some of the Polycell coverall stuff

Maybe use paint for new plaster on the wall first.

I have had probs with old plaster, and a builder friend advised me to seal the wall with a mix of 75% polyeurethane matt varnish and 25% white spirit.

It worked here.
