View Full Version : Scottish Rally 10/11 June
A round of the BRC. I might have a look on the Saturday depending on the entry list, or what might be left of the entry come the Saturday.

MarkSayer 05 June 2005, 22:14 I am heading up to this rally - looks to be a great event

I'm driving the 00 car so it looks like I'll be there! Like the earlier rounds of the BRC we've got a smaller entry in the International event than we'd really like but the Scottish championship rally on the Sunday has an excellent entry. Currently sitting on 98 cars, including Colin McRae, Alistair McRae and Jimmy McRae all in Mark 2 Escorts!
Scoobychick 07 June 2005, 10:04 If it wasn't for the fact that midges love me (someone has to ;) ) I'd be there, especially with family McRae performing in my favourite rally car of all time. Dammit.

sti-spec-a 08 June 2005, 18:46 Be very careful on the A75 Gretna-Dumfries Road
The local constabulary have 2 Safety Camara Partnership vans and are bound to be out in force for this event
Cancelled the run to NBO3, sorry LordHarding, just because all 3 McRaes are in MK2's
Grant
Apparently some stages have already been cancelled, due to lack of entries?

The second run through Ae West on Friday and the second run through Black Loch on Saturday have both been cancelled and the Clatteringshaws stages have been reduced from 16 miles to 7 miles. Unfortunate, but when you only get around 30 entries for the International event costs have to be cut...
Grant-F 10 June 2005, 22:36 Hey folks I am heading down to watch on sunday. Should be some good action with the mcraes competing. Anyone seen a weather forecast?

AAARRRGGGGHHHH THE FLIES!!!!
I still have nightmares from 2 years ago about them buggers! Ste looked just like Arnie in Total Recall, the really spooky thing was when I got home and flicked the TV on, guess what was on?!
Well that was hard work. Thursday afternoon shepherding the internationals round on their recce of the Saturday stages (twice through them all except Black Loch where we were running a speed trap). Friday morning doing the recce for the Friday evening stages. Got the the Tonka Toy kitted out with lamp bars etc in the afternoon before the rally started in the evening. Heathhall was fun and Ae looked pretty good. Unfortunately it was stopped after David Higgins accident and couldn't restart because it was getting too dark and no-one had lights on their cars. Desperately early start on Saturday and a long day doing the west stages. Glentrool was pretty rough but felt a bit better than it had in the recce, probably just cos we were going faster. Actually got a chance to watch the Stars of the Future cars at the start of Jenny's Hill (wasn't enough time for us to do Glentrool 2 :)). Never seen as many midges as at the start of Clatt 2 - you could see this wall of them!
Sunday was a bit more relaxed - way more spectators out in the forests than there had been on Saturday - wonder why? ;) Shame about the morons who just about blocked the public road near the start of Twiglees by parking on it - that was interesting - two-way rally traffic on a road that only had about a 7 foot gap down the middle. If the verge isn't wide enough, find another bit guys!
Back to Dumfries after we'd finished - in time to get sent back to service to collect stuff from the closing car. Finally got the kit stripped out - then went and helped my brother clear up after Ae. Dropped more kit off at Dumfries, dropped him off where he'd left his car and headed back to Edinburgh (via Paisley to drop off Tonka Toy). Got home at 1.45 am. Slept til lunchtime.....
Grant-F 13 June 2005, 18:24 Sounds like you had a pretty eventfull weekend mate. Hope you werent meant to start work at 8 this morning.ha ha! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/images/icons/icon7.gif
I was down spectating yesterday-those midges were f**king hungry!! Shame bout the weather but that aside was a good day-could of done without the 4 1/2 hr drive back up the road-but worth it.
