Can you get electric showers that can be fitted into a wall?
Or can you get ones that could be fitted above the ceiling so it looks flush to the wall like a mixer shower would?

You could get an electric instantaneous hot water heater. Can put it where you like and just have a normal shower mixer. :)

(essentially, that is what your box on the wall is ;) )
