View Full Version : Zanussi Dishwasher not emptying water
Gazza_99 03 June 2005, 13:48 Hello Guys,
Just wondering if you could shed any light on the following Zanussi zdt6252 Dishwasher.
Basically the dishwasher is over a year old and what is happening is that the water isn't emptying anymore unless I lay the outlet drain pipe of the dishwasher at ground level. The dishwasher works fine then. But if I reconnect the pipe back to the original height level it doesn't pump the water out.
Does this sound like the outlet water pump is failing ??
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Gary.
Gazza_99 03 June 2005, 14:36 could it be the filter !
I have cleaned the inside filter.
Did you reckon there is another filter at the back of the Dishwaher ??
cheers
Gary.

This is the gunge trap, the smelly one that when it's clogged means that the water doesn't exit. Happens to me about once every 6 months or so (depending on how proactive I have been ;) ).
IF you are still blocked then there is a chance that the lead from the machine to the waste is gunged up (has happened once) & that is an even more smelly job involving mouth to pipe blowing ( yuk ).
Reason that it happens at all (IMHO) is the wife's use of "fabric conditioner" bollox stuff that is more claggy than sh1*.... :(
fast bloke 04 June 2005, 02:41 fabric conditioner in a dish washer????? BJ's on the smelly pipe??????? Some people here scare me :D
Gazza - run it through a couple of times with bicarbonate of soda instead of dishwasher tabs - If your smelly pipe needs a suck this should help :D
CrisPDuk 05 June 2005, 04:32 We had one of these dishwashers, the inlet & outlet pump are one and the same thing, which rotates both ways. The problem is one of the impellers is mounted on a poxy shaft which fails. There was no option with ours but to buy a new pump at over £100:eek: We have since replaced it with a Miele which is far and away a better piece of kit:)

You get what you pay for.
Fat Boy 05 June 2005, 22:27 We have a one year old miele dishwasher and have had the monkeys out 3 times to fix it. Kept refusing to drain - eventually it was discovered that the water softener resin had gone hard so not allowing any water through, which they told me was because i had put the powerball thing in the salt compartment. I don't ferking think so.....As far as I'm concerned the Jury is still out on Miele
john_s 05 June 2005, 23:54 My parents have had a Zanussi dishwasher for several years (probably coming up for 20 years now), and apart from needing a new inlet valve under warranty, the only other problem it's had has been the wires breaking where the door hinges.

:(
Yep thats the one
Gazza_99 06 June 2005, 10:21 Cheers for the replies lads.
I spent 2hrs on Saturday taking the thing to pieces. I couldn't find any blockages anywhere. So all I can assume is that it needs a new pump.
Just need to find a new pump now. I can be bothered spending £500 quid on a new dishwasher again !!
Any ideas where I can get a pump from ?
Cheers
Gaz
john_s 06 June 2005, 21:56 Somewhere nearby, you should have a domestic appliance spares type place. If they don't deal in Zanussi spares, they should be able to point you in the direction of a local company who does.
