Can anyone advise me on the new laws for leki in the garden and let me know if i can do the following.

I have a summerhouse that has always had electric to it, the cable for this is about 4 inches deep in the ground and is 1.5mm standard (twin & E) mains flex with no conduit around it.. (it was like that when i bought the house)

What i want to do is replace the cable with armoured external cable, now as i see this it is replacing a single cable, which should be ok but... i want it to follow a safer route through the garden.

worst case you need a competent person to connect both ends

...and to size the cable - ie take into account the voltage drop due to the length of the cable.

John.

ps - if it were my garden, I'd probably just do it myself. Last year of course before the new regs came in ;)

what does it power (ie what load) what is connected to each end, and how long is the cable?

needs to be burried 450mm deep.

I have some ducting approx 150mm diameter which you can have if you come and collect. Each length approx 6m, and I think I have 24m worth.

I used this to run power from my main distribution board to a new distribution in my shed to provide power to garden lights, shed, external power sockets for lawn mower etc, and have surplus ducting left.

Regards,

Roger
