I am thinking of splashing out on a Ninja back box for MY05 wrx.
I assume this is a mod i will have to report to Direct Line but does anyone no what the lightly impact will be on my premium ?

I am with A-Plan
I enquired about getting an exhaust, induction kit and remapped ecu "to run better on uk fuel"
They said that it would put my insurance up about £70 which was 10%.
I ended up getting insured for 4 pots, 17" alloys, fmic, induction kit, exhaust, apexi ecu, plus the facelift front end for an additional £125 ontop of my policy.
So I would guess you would be looking at about 10%
cheers

Yes, about 10% is the norm. Though I managed to get both 17" alloys AND ninja BB for around £80 (which = £10%) though I was about 4 months in to Policy.

I was told that if the Exhaust claimed a power increase then I would have to pay more - but nothing if there were no such claims.
Not sure if this holds true?

I fitted a Ninja to my 03 WRX. I'm with Elephant and there was NO charge :-).
The exhaust is cosmetic only..... and doesn't offer any performance gains.. so I put it to them.
As what Pete says, mention it increase power and you're up slack alley.

Cheers guys i will give Direct Line a call and put it to the test.
Looks like there will be no charge but i will keep you all informed.

Put a Ninja on my 04 last September.
Added £40ish to the policy and is down as 'Exhaust non standard' on the schedule.
Having double checked with Admiral exactly what 'Exhaust non standard' means, it turns out I can change any bit of the system and not have to pay a penny more :)
At the end of warranty........ it's de-cat time :D
