Everytime a bike is at the lights/junction, the rider has to always blip the throttle every 2 seconds.

This makes then look a right tosser, couldn't the idle speed be adjusted so that the riders don't have to embarrass themselves??

Maybe they don't idle, maybe they need the revs blipped for some reason ... but, I had a bike in the 1970's and it would idle just fine - have bike engines actually got worse?

I know they dont have cold starts like a car does. Maybe something to do with that, and every time you see them the bikes cold?? Either that or they love revving it :p

These bikes aren't cold, no ................

I can't believe that the bike engines of today force the rider to look like a prick and blip the throttle all the time???

There MUST be a petition somewhere I can sign on behalf of the riders who are getting a raw deal from the likes of Honda, Yamaha and others

Just asked my dad, he said theres no need to keep blipping the throttle. He said his bike ( Yamaha XJR1300sp ) will happily tick over at 1k. He said tuned engines however dont like ticking over at low revs and need some revs.

I see, thanks for that!!

The only bike I have that doesn't Idle is a Norton Dominator, and thats because the carb is fooked.

The Aerials idle fine..even cold
As does the Commando
The Beezer is fine
The kettle...even on 2 cylinders
The H1 Kawk (and thats a two stroke)
Even the Scott Squirrel (a 1940's 2 stroker) once warm, even if it is a pig to start.

But of course the most superior idler is the Honda V45 which is a fairly modern bike, cold or warm she'll tick over at 800rpm

I suggest these "blippers" gets their engines setup properly ;):D...or do the job properly and get a penis enlargement

It's a power and ego thing that's all. I'm a biker and it annoys me as much as anyone.

These prats just like to rev their engines to make their Penis' seem bigger.

Modern bikes idle fine.

Same here, all mine idle fine, so I dont blip the throttle (apart from the quad when it has just been started, but that goes after 1 min) agree with Ali!

Perhaps they were hoping that you would participate in a spot of drag racing off the traffic lights  and were hoping to get your attention.

I think a 350quid ex courier Kawasaki GPZ550 with 200k on the clock burning more oil than the Iraqi's did would still beat most cars off the line

Genuine question. Why when bikers start their bikes do they leave them running for a couple of mins before riding off. See this all the time. Is it just warming the engine up so they can rag it down the road or is there a genuine need to do it?

Cheers,
Simon.

A few reasons :

1. Cos GP riders do it while they are warming the bike up on the grid before the race start.
2. Cos they need to tell they havent stalled over the deafening noise coming out of the Chav filled Nova next to them.
3. To try and make young girlies look at them.

I dont do it myself often, but do if someone annoying is behind me as my exhausts are at window level so you can suffocate people if you position the bike just right next to the drivers window

we warm the engine just so everyone looks at us and get the oil up to working temp like tyres work better when warm also so my bitch can get her arse on the bike you know how long that takes to look cool

I borrowed a van the other day......had a real laugh at the other road users, they had no idea that my £45 per day would piss all over them in load carrying. There is no way they could fit as much in their stupid little cars...mugs.
