After my last questions I have am down to a few choices for a additional zoom for my 300D

have these

Canon EFS 18-55MM
Canon 28-135MM IS F/3.5-5.6 USM

looking at these

Canon EF Zoom Lens - 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III - USM @ £125
Sigma 70-300 APO Super Macro II @ £150
Canon EF 75-300mm 75-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens @ £300
Sigma Lens for Canon EF - 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 APO @ £325
Tokina ATX 80-400mm II @ £370

biased towards the canon @ £300 at the mo just looking for views on the others in comparision.

Thoughts ?

Ta

Dave.

Not tried the others, but if you can find a s/h Canon EF 100-300 f/5.6 L then that's well worth a look too. Although its AF motor is rather slow and noisy it more than makes up for it with 'L' build quality and tack sharp optics.

Dave, the option is still there if you want to pop over and try my Sigma 70-300 :) I can't compare to the others as I've only used the Sigma (I'm working on a budget...which I know is wrong in photography ;)).

Dave .......... L Glass is not a million miles away at the moment, with Canon offering a £70 cashback off the 70-200mm F4 L USM.

Brings it down to about £390 ...... only £90 more than the 75-300mm.

Just a thought ..... I am pondering at the moment!

Pete,

been thinking that but I have 28-135MM IS F/3.5-5.6 USM so I am thinking the 200 won't give me much more distance but the 300 should give me that bit more would be nice to get an L lens at 300mm :D

Dave

Yes, BUT - use that for 28 - 70mm and then switch to the big fella!?

I may well grab one tomorrow ...... it's not like me, but I might just jump and get me some L glass (after all if it lasts me 10 years??)
